1 But know this: in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemous, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, not loving what is good, 4 traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but having denied its power. Turn away from these people too. 6 For among them are those who slip into households and take captive weak women burdened with sins, led by various desires, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these also oppose the truth, people corrupted in mind, disqualified concerning the faith. 9 But they will advance no further, for their folly will be evident to everyone, as that of those men also became.
10 But you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, and sufferings, such as happened to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! And out of them all the Lord rescued me. 12 Indeed, all who desire to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evil people and impostors will advance from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But you, continue in what you learned and became convinced of, knowing from whom you learned it, 15 and that from infancy you have known the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
