41
1 Then he brought me into the main hall and measured the doorposts: about ten and a half feet wide on one side and ten and a half feet wide on the other, the width of the tent. 2 The opening was about seventeen and a half feet wide, and its side walls were about eight feet nine inches on one side and eight feet nine inches on the other. He measured its length: about seventy feet, and its width: about thirty-five feet. 3 Then he went inside and measured the doorpost of the entrance: about three and a half feet; the entrance: about ten and a half feet; and the width of the entrance: about twelve feet three inches. 4 He measured its length: about thirty-five feet, and its width: about thirty-five feet, in front of the main hall. He said to me, “This is the Most Holy Place.” 5 Then he measured the wall of the temple: about ten and a half feet. The side chambers were about seven feet wide, all around the temple on every side. 6 The side chambers were one above another in three stories, thirty in each story. They rested against the wall provided for the side chambers all around the temple, to be supported without being fastened into the temple wall. 7 The side chambers grew wider as they went higher, because the structure surrounding the temple rose upward all around the temple. So the structure was wider above. One went up from the lowest story to the highest by way of the middle one. 8 I saw an elevation all around the temple. The foundations of the side chambers were a full rod of six long cubits, about ten and a half feet. 9 The outer wall of the side chambers was about eight feet nine inches thick. There was an open space between the side chambers belonging to the temple 10 and the rooms, about thirty-five feet wide, all around the temple on every side. 11 The entrances of the side chambers opened onto the open space, one entrance toward the north and one toward the south. The open space was about eight feet nine inches wide all around. 12 The building facing the separate area on the west was about one hundred twenty-two and a half feet wide. Its wall was about eight feet nine inches thick all around, and its length was about one hundred fifty-seven and a half feet. 13 He measured the temple: about one hundred seventy-five feet long. The separate area, the building, and its walls were about one hundred seventy-five feet long. 14 The width of the front of the temple and of the separate area toward the east was about one hundred seventy-five feet. 15 He measured the length of the building facing the separate area behind it, with its galleries on either side: about one hundred seventy-five feet. As for the inner main hall and the vestibules of the court, 16 the thresholds, the narrow windows, and the galleries all around the three were paneled with wood all around, opposite the threshold, from the ground to the windows. The windows were covered. 17 Above the entrance and as far as the inner temple and outside, and on the entire wall all around, inside and outside, everything was made according to its measurements. 18 It was carved with cherubim and palm trees, with a palm tree between one cherub and another. Each cherub had two faces: 19 a human face toward the palm tree on one side and the face of a young lion toward the palm tree on the other. They were carved all around the temple. 20 The cherubim and palm trees were carved from the ground to above the entrance, on the wall of the main hall. 21 The main hall had square doorposts, and the front of the sanctuary had the same appearance. 22 The altar was wood, about five feet three inches high and three and a half feet long. Its corners and its sides along its length were wood. He said to me, “This is the table that is before the LORD.” 23 The main hall and the sanctuary had double doors. 24 Each door had two leaves, two turning leaves: two for one door and two for the other. 25 Cherubim and palm trees were carved on the doors of the main hall, just as they were carved on the walls. There was a wooden beam on the outer front of the vestibule. 26 There were narrow windows and palm trees on either side, on the sides of the vestibule, as well as the side chambers of the temple and the beams.
