1 The LORD spoke to Moses and said, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and tell them, ‘I am the LORD your God. 3 You must not do as they do in the land of Egypt, where you lived, or as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. You must not walk in their customs. 4 You must carry out my ordinances and keep my statutes, walking in them. I am the LORD your God. 5 You must keep my statutes and my ordinances; the person who does them shall live by them. I am the LORD.

6 None of you may approach a close blood relative to uncover nakedness. I am the LORD.

7 You must not uncover your father's nakedness or your mother's nakedness. She is your mother; you must not uncover her nakedness.

8 You must not uncover the nakedness of your father's wife; it is your father's nakedness.

9 As for the nakedness of your sister, your father's daughter or your mother's daughter, whether born at home or born outside—you must not uncover their nakedness.

10 As for the nakedness of your son's daughter or your daughter's daughter, you must not uncover their nakedness, for theirs is your own nakedness.

11 As for the nakedness of the daughter of your father's wife, born to your father—she is your sister; you must not uncover her nakedness.

12 You must not uncover the nakedness of your father's sister; she is your father's close relative.

13 You must not uncover the nakedness of your mother's sister, for she is your mother's close relative.

14 You must not uncover the nakedness of your father's brother. You must not approach his wife; she is your aunt.

15 You must not uncover your daughter-in-law's nakedness. She is your son's wife; you must not uncover her nakedness.

16 You must not uncover the nakedness of your brother's wife; it is your brother's nakedness.

17 You must not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter. You must not take her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter to uncover her nakedness. They are close relatives; it is wickedness. 18 You must not take your wife's sister to make her a rival, uncovering her nakedness while your wife is still alive. 19 You must not approach a woman during her menstrual impurity to uncover her nakedness. 20 You must not have sexual relations with your neighbor's wife, defiling yourself with her. 21 You must not give any of your offspring to be handed over to Molech, and you must not profane the name of your God. I am the LORD. 22 You must not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. 23 You must not lie with any animal and defile yourself with it, nor may a woman stand before an animal to let it mate with her. It is a perversion. 24 Do not defile yourselves by any of these things, for by all these things the nations I am driving out before you became unclean. 25 The land became unclean, so I punished it for its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. 26 But you must keep my statutes and my ordinances and do none of these abominations, whether native-born or a foreigner residing among you. 27 For the people of the land who were there before you did all these abominations, and the land became unclean. 28 Do not let the land vomit you out when you defile it, as it vomited out the nation that was before you. 29 For whoever does any of these abominations—the people who do them shall be cut off from among their people. 30 You must keep my charge by not practicing any of the abominable customs practiced before you. Do not defile yourselves by them. I am the LORD your God.’ ”
