19
1 The LORD spoke to Moses and said, 2 “Speak to the whole congregation of the Israelites and tell them, ‘You shall be holy, for I, the LORD your God, am holy. 3 Each of you must revere his mother and father, and you must keep my Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God. 4 Do not turn to idols or make gods of cast metal for yourselves. I am the LORD your God. 5 When you sacrifice a peace offering to the LORD, sacrifice it so that it may be accepted on your behalf. 6 It must be eaten on the day you sacrifice it or on the next day. Whatever remains until the third day must be burned in the fire. 7 If it is eaten on the third day, it is an abomination; it shall not be accepted. 8 Whoever eats it shall bear his guilt, because he has profaned what is holy to the LORD. That person shall be cut off from his people. 9 When you reap the harvest of your land, you must not reap your field to its very edge or gather the gleanings of your harvest. 10 You must not glean your vineyard or gather the fallen grapes of your vineyard. You must leave them for the poor and the foreigner. I am the LORD your God. 11 You must not steal, deal falsely, or lie to one another. 12 You must not swear falsely by my name and so profane the name of your God. I am the LORD. 13 You must not oppress your neighbor or rob him. A hired worker's wages must not remain with you until morning. 14 You must not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block before the blind. You must fear your God. I am the LORD. 15 You must not act unjustly in judgment. You must not favor the poor or show partiality to the powerful. You must judge your neighbor with righteousness. 16 You must not go about slandering among your people or endanger your neighbor's life. I am the LORD. 17 You must not hate your brother in your heart. You must surely rebuke your neighbor and not incur sin because of him. 18 You must not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the members of your people. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD. 19 You must keep my statutes. You must not breed your livestock with a different kind. You must not sow your field with two kinds of seed or wear a garment woven from mixed threads.
20 When a man has sexual relations with a woman who is a slave pledged to another man, but she has not been redeemed or given her freedom, there shall be punishment. They must not be put to death, because she has not been freed. 21 He must bring his guilt offering to the LORD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, a ram for a guilt offering. 22 With the ram of the guilt offering, the priest shall make atonement for him before the LORD for the sin he committed, and he shall be forgiven for the sin he committed.
23 When you enter the land and plant any tree for food, you must regard its fruit as uncircumcised. For three years it shall be uncircumcised to you; it must not be eaten. 24 In the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy, for praising the LORD. 25 In the fifth year you may eat its fruit, so that its yield may increase for you. I am the LORD your God. 26 You must not eat anything with the blood. You must not practice divination or interpret omens. 27 You must not round off the edges of your heads or mar the edges of your beard. 28 You must not make cuts in your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD. 29 Do not profane your daughter by making her a prostitute, so that the land does not prostitute itself and become full of wickedness. 30 You must keep my Sabbaths and revere my sanctuary. I am the LORD. 31 Do not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out and defile yourselves through them. I am the LORD your God. 32 You must rise in the presence of the gray-haired and honor the elderly. You must fear your God. I am the LORD.
33 When a foreigner resides with you in your land, you must not mistreat him. 34 The foreigner residing among you shall be to you like a native-born person among you. You shall love him as yourself, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God. 35 You must not act unjustly in judgment, in measuring length, in weight, or in measuring capacity. 36 You must have honest balances, honest weights, an honest ephah for dry measure, and an honest hin for liquid measure. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt. 37 You must keep all my statutes and all my ordinances and carry them out. I am the LORD.’ ”
