Psalm.
Chapter 5.
Listen to my words, LORD; consider my groaning.
Attend to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.
LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my prayer before you and keep watch.
For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil cannot dwell with you.
The arrogant cannot stand before your eyes; you hate all who do evil.
You destroy those who speak lies; the LORD detests the bloodthirsty and deceitful.
But through your abundant steadfast love I will enter your house; in reverence for you I will bow toward your holy temple.
LORD, lead me in your righteousness because of those who watch for my downfall; make your way straight before me.
For nothing in their speech is trustworthy; within them is destruction. Their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue.
Declare them guilty, God; let their own schemes bring them down. Drive them out for their many transgressions, for they have rebelled against you.
Let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing for joy forever. Spread your protection over them, and let those who love your name exult in you.
For you bless the righteous, LORD; you surround them with favor as with a shield.
