Psalm.
Chapter 58.
Do you really speak righteousness, you silent ones? Do you judge uprightly, human beings?
Rather, in your heart you work injustice; on the earth you weigh out the violence of your hands.
The wicked are estranged from the womb; those who speak lies go astray from birth.
Their venom is like a serpent’s venom, like a deaf cobra that stops its ear
and will not listen to the voice of charmers, however skillful the spellbinder.
God, break the teeth in their mouths; shatter the fangs of the young lions, LORD.
Let them melt away like water that flows off; when he shoots his arrows, let them be cut to pieces.
Let them be like a snail that melts as it moves, like a woman’s stillborn child that never sees the sun.
Before your pots feel the heat of the thornwood, he will sweep it away in a whirlwind, green or burning alike.
The righteous man will rejoice when he sees vengeance; he will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
Then people will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth.”
