Ezekiel.
Chapter 47.
Then he brought me back to the entrance of the temple. Water was flowing from beneath the threshold of the temple toward the east, for the front of the temple faced east. The water was coming down from beneath the right side of the temple, south of the altar.
He led me out through the north gateway and around outside to the outer gateway facing east. Water was trickling from the right side.
As the man went east with a measuring line in his hand, he measured about one thousand seven hundred fifty feet and led me through the water. The water was ankle-deep.
He measured about one thousand seven hundred fifty feet farther and led me through the water. The water was knee-deep. He measured about one thousand seven hundred fifty feet farther and led me through. The water was waist-deep.
He measured about one thousand seven hundred fifty feet farther, and it was a river I could not cross, for the water had risen. It was water to swim in, a river that could not be crossed on foot.
He said to me, “Have you seen this, son of man?” Then he led me back to the bank of the river.
When I returned, there were very many trees on the bank of the river, on both sides.
He said to me, “These waters flow toward the eastern region, go down into the Arabah, and enter the sea. When they flow into the sea, its waters will be healed.
Every living creature that swarms will live wherever the two rivers go. There will be very many fish, for these waters have come there and the waters will be healed. Everything will live wherever the river goes.
Fishermen will stand beside it. From En-gedi to En-eglaim there will be places for spreading nets. Its fish will be of many kinds, as numerous as the fish of the Great Sea.
But its swamps and marshes will not be healed; they will be left for salt.
All kinds of fruit trees will grow along the river, on its banks on both sides. Their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. They will bear new fruit every month, because their water flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food and their leaves for healing.”
This is what the Lord GOD says: “This shall be the boundary by which you divide the land as an inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel. Joseph shall have two portions.
You shall inherit it equally, each like his brother. I raised my hand to give it to your fathers, and this land shall fall to you as an inheritance.
This shall be the boundary of the land on the north side: from the Great Sea, by way of Hethlon, as far as Zedad;
Hamath, Berothah, and Sibraim, which lies between the boundary of Damascus and the boundary of Hamath; Hazar-hatticon, which is on the boundary of Hauran.
The boundary shall run from the sea to Hazar-enon, on the boundary of Damascus, and on the north, northward, to the boundary of Hamath. This shall be the north side.
On the east side, between Hauran and Damascus, and between Gilead and the land of Israel, the Jordan shall be the boundary. You shall measure from the boundary to the eastern sea. This shall be the east side.
On the south side, southward, from Tamar to the waters of Meribah-kadesh, then to the brook and on to the Great Sea. This shall be the south side, southward.
The west side shall be the Great Sea, from the boundary to a point opposite the entrance to Hamath. This shall be the west side.
You shall divide this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel.
You shall allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the foreigners residing among you who have had children among you. You shall regard them as native-born among the people of Israel. With you they shall receive an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.
In whatever tribe the foreigner resides, there you shall give him his inheritance, declares the Lord GOD.”
