2 Corinthians.
Chapter 9.
For it is unnecessary for me to write to you about the service to the saints.
I know your eagerness, which I boast about to the Macedonians, saying that Achaia has been ready since last year. Your zeal has stirred up most of them.
But I sent the brothers so that our boasting about you in this matter would not prove empty, and so that you would be ready, just as I said.
Otherwise, if some Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we—to say nothing of you—would be put to shame by this confidence.
So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go to you ahead of me and arrange in advance the generous gift you had promised, so that it would be ready as a generous gift rather than something exacted from you.
Remember this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
Each should give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
And God is able to make all grace overflow to you, so that, always having all you need in everything, you may overflow in every good work.
As it is written, “He scattered abroad his gifts; he gave to the poor. His righteousness endures forever.”
The one who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
You are being enriched in every way for every kind of generosity, which through us produces thanksgiving to God.
For the ministry of this service not only supplies the needs of the saints but also overflows in many thanksgivings to God.
Through the proof this service provides, they glorify God for your obedience to the gospel of Christ that you confess, and for the generosity of your sharing with them and with everyone.
And in their prayers for you, they long for you because of the surpassing grace of God upon you.
Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
