The artwork on the cover is by Andrew Wanimilil Malibirr, from Ramingining. Used with permission.
The whole artwork, in the shape of a cross, is a picture of Jesus’s sacrifice. The bit in the middle represents the Last Supper, with Jesus and his disciples sitting around a fire, symbolic of the Holy Spirit. The cross hatching is a symbol of the water and blood that flowed out of Jesus’s body. And the small dots are from the Ganalbingu people’s story of the flying fox, and here represent Jesus’s blood taking away the sin of the world. The picture uses art styles from Arnhem Land and Central Australia, reminding us that Jesus’s story is for everyone.
