27
1 In that day the LORD will punish with his hard, great, and strong sword Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan the twisting serpent, and he will slay the sea monster in the sea.

2 In that day: “A delightful vineyard!
Sing of it!
3 I, the LORD, keep it;
every moment I water it.
Lest anyone harm it, I guard it night and day.
4 I have no wrath.
If only someone would set briers and thorns against me in battle!
I would march through them and set them all ablaze.
5 Or let him take hold of my protection;
let him make peace with me, let him make peace with me.”
6 In time to come Jacob shall take root;
Israel shall blossom and bud, and they shall fill the face of the world with fruit.

7 Has he struck him as he struck the one who struck him?
Or has he been slain as his slain were slain?
8 By measure, in sending her away, you contend with her.
He drove her out with his harsh wind on the day of the east wind.
9 Therefore by this Jacob’s iniquity shall be atoned for, and this shall be all the fruit of removing his sin: when he makes all the altar stones like limestone crushed to pieces, no Asherah poles or incense altars shall remain standing.
10 For the fortified city is solitary, a dwelling forsaken and abandoned like the wilderness.
There a calf grazes;
there it lies down and consumes her branches.
11 When her boughs are dry, they are broken off;
women come and set them alight.
For this is a people without understanding;
therefore their Maker will not have compassion on them, and the one who formed them will show them no favor.

12 In that day the LORD will beat out from the channel of the River to the Brook of Egypt, and you shall be gathered one by one, people of Israel.

13 In that day a great trumpet will be blown;
those perishing in the land of Assyria and those driven out in the land of Egypt will come and worship the LORD on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.
