9
1 On the eighth day Moses called Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel. 2 He said to Aaron, “Take for yourself a calf from the herd for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering, both without blemish, and present them before the LORD. 3 You shall say to the Israelites: ‘Take a male goat for a sin offering, and a calf and a lamb, both a year old and without blemish, for a burnt offering, 4 and an ox and a ram for peace offerings to sacrifice before the LORD, and a grain offering mixed with oil, for today the LORD will appear to you.’ ” 5 They brought what Moses had commanded before the Tent of Meeting, and the whole congregation drew near and stood before the LORD. 6 Moses said, “This is what the LORD has commanded you to do, and the glory of the LORD will appear to you.” 7 Moses said to Aaron, “Come near the altar and prepare your sin offering and your burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself and for the people. Prepare the offering of the people and make atonement for them, as the LORD has commanded.” 8 Aaron came near the altar and slaughtered the calf of the sin offering for himself. 9 Aaron’s sons brought the blood to him. He dipped his finger in the blood and put it on the horns of the altar, and poured the blood at the base of the altar. 10 He turned the fat, the kidneys, and the lobe of the liver from the sin offering into smoke on the altar, as the LORD had commanded Moses. 11 He burned the flesh and the skin with fire outside the camp. 12 He slaughtered the burnt offering, and Aaron’s sons handed him the blood. He dashed it against all sides of the altar. 13 They handed him the burnt offering in its pieces, with the head, and he turned them into smoke on the altar. 14 He washed the entrails and the legs and turned them into smoke on top of the burnt offering on the altar. 15 He brought forward the offering of the people. He took the goat of the sin offering for the people, slaughtered it, and offered it for sin as he had the first. 16 He brought forward the burnt offering and prepared it according to the prescribed rule. 17 He brought forward the grain offering, took a handful from it, and turned it into smoke on the altar, in addition to the morning burnt offering. 18 He slaughtered the ox and the ram, the peace offering for the people. Aaron’s sons handed him the blood, and he dashed it against all sides of the altar. 19 The fat portions were from the ox and the ram: the fat tail, the covering fat, the kidneys, and the lobe of the liver. 20 They put the fat portions on the breasts, and he turned the fat portions into smoke on the altar. 21 Aaron waved the breasts and the right thigh as a wave offering before the LORD, as Moses had commanded. 22 Aaron lifted his hand toward the people and blessed them. Then he came down after preparing the sin offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offerings. 23 Moses and Aaron went into the Tent of Meeting. They came out and blessed the people, and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people. 24 Fire came out from before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. All the people saw it, shouted for joy, and fell on their faces.
