1 The LORD spoke to Moses and said, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and tell them, ‘When a man makes a special vow concerning persons to the LORD according to your valuation, 3 your valuation of a male from twenty to sixty years old shall be about twenty ounces of silver, according to the sanctuary weight. 4 If it is a female, your valuation shall be about twelve ounces of silver. 5 From five to twenty years old, your valuation for a male shall be about eight ounces of silver, and for a female about four ounces. 6 From one month to five years old, your valuation for a male shall be about two ounces of silver, and your valuation for a female about 1.2 ounces of silver. 7 From sixty years old and upward, if it is a male, your valuation shall be about six ounces of silver, and for a female about four ounces. 8 But if he is too poor to meet your valuation, he shall be presented before the priest. The priest shall value him according to the means of the one who made the vow.
9 If it is an animal of a kind that may be presented as an offering to the LORD, any such animal given to the LORD shall be holy. 10 He must not exchange it or substitute another for it, a good one for a bad one or a bad one for a good one. If he does substitute one animal for another, both it and its substitute shall be holy. 11 If it is any unclean animal, of a kind that may not be presented as an offering to the LORD, he shall present the animal before the priest. 12 The priest shall value it, whether good or bad. As you, the priest, value it, so it shall be. 13 If he redeems it, he shall add twenty percent to your valuation. 14 If a man consecrates his house as holy to the LORD, the priest shall value it, whether good or bad. As the priest values it, so it shall stand. 15 If the one who consecrated his house redeems it, he shall add twenty percent to the amount of your valuation, and it shall be his. 16 If a man consecrates to the LORD part of the field he possesses, your valuation shall be according to the seed needed to sow it: about twenty ounces of silver for land sown with about five bushels of barley seed. 17 If he consecrates his field from the year of Jubilee, your valuation shall stand. 18 But if he consecrates his field after the Jubilee, the priest shall calculate the amount for him according to the years remaining until the year of Jubilee, and it shall be deducted from your valuation. 19 If the one who consecrated the field redeems it, he shall add twenty percent to the amount of your valuation, and it shall be secured to him. 20 If he does not redeem the field, and if he sells the field to another man, it shall no longer be redeemed. 21 When the field is released in the Jubilee, it shall be holy to the LORD, like a field irrevocably devoted to him. It shall become the priest's possession. 22 If he consecrates to the LORD a field he has purchased, which is not part of the field of his hereditary possession, 23 the priest shall calculate for him the amount of the valuation until the year of Jubilee. That day he shall give the amount of your valuation as holy to the LORD. 24 In the year of Jubilee, the field shall return to the one from whom he bought it, to whom the hereditary possession of the land belongs. 25 All your valuations shall follow the sanctuary shekel, a weight of about 0.4 ounces; twenty gerahs make one shekel.
26 But no one may consecrate a firstborn animal that already belongs to the LORD by birth. Whether an ox or a sheep or goat, it belongs to the LORD. 27 If it is an unclean animal, he shall ransom it according to your valuation and add twenty percent to it. If it is not redeemed, it shall be sold according to your valuation. 28 But nothing a man irrevocably devotes to the LORD from anything he owns, whether a person, an animal, or the field of his possession, may be sold or redeemed. Everything irrevocably devoted is most holy to the LORD. 29 Any human being placed under the ban must not be ransomed; he must certainly be put to death. 30 Every tithe of the land, whether from the seed of the land or the fruit of the trees, belongs to the LORD. It is holy to the LORD. 31 If a man redeems any of his tithe, he shall add twenty percent to it. 32 Every tithe of the herd or flock, of all that passes under the rod, the tenth shall be holy to the LORD. 33 He must not examine whether it is good or bad or substitute another for it. If he does substitute another for it, both it and its substitute shall be holy. It must not be redeemed.’ ” 34 These are the commandments that the LORD commanded Moses for the Israelites on Mount Sinai.
