1 Vindicate me, God, and plead my cause against an unfaithful nation;
deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.
2 For you are the God of my refuge;
why have you rejected me?
Why must I go about mourning under the enemy’s oppression?
3 Send out your light and your truth;
let them guide me and bring me to your holy mountain and your dwelling places.
4 Then I will come to the altar of God, to God, my exceeding joy, and thank you with the lyre, God, my God.
5 Why are you bowed down, my soul, and why do you groan within me?
Hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my saving help and my God.
