1 Where has your beloved gone, most beautiful among women?
Where has your beloved turned, that we may seek him with you?
2 My beloved has gone down to his garden, to the beds of spices, to pasture in the gardens and gather lilies.
3 I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine;
he pastures among the lilies.
4 You are beautiful as Tirzah, my love, lovely as Jerusalem, awe-inspiring as armies with banners.
5 Turn your eyes away from me, for they overwhelm me.
Your hair is like a flock of goats streaming down from Gilead.
6 Your teeth are like a flock of ewes coming up from washing;
all of them bear twins, and none has lost her young.
7 Your temples are like a slice of pomegranate behind your veil.
8 There are sixty queens and eighty concubines, and young women beyond number.
9 My dove, my perfect one, is unique;
she is her mother’s only one, the favorite of the one who bore her.
The daughters saw her and called her blessed;
queens and concubines praised her.
10 Who is this who looks forth like the dawn, beautiful as the moon, bright as the sun, awe-inspiring as armies with banners?
11 I went down to the nut garden to see the fresh growth of the valley, to see whether the vine had budded and the pomegranates had blossomed.
12 Before I was aware, my soul had set me among the chariots of my noble people.
13 Return, return, Shulammite!
Return, return, that we may look at you!
What would you see in the Shulammite, as in the dance of two camps?
