AftertheLordhadspokenthesethingstoJob, hesaidto Eliphaz theTemanite, “My anger isstirredupagainstyouandyourtwofriends, becauseyouhavenotspokenaboutmewhatisright, asmyservantJobhas. Sonowtakesevenbullsandseven rams andgotomyservantJobandofferaburntofferingforyourselves. AndmyservantJobwillintercedeforyou, andIwillrespecthim, sothatIdonotdealwithyouaccordingtoyourfolly, becauseyouhavenotspokenaboutmewhatisright, asmyservantJobhas.” Sotheywent, Eliphaz theTemanite, BildadtheShuhite, andZophartheNaamathite, anddidjustastheLordhadtoldthem; andtheLordhadrespectforJob. SotheLordrestoredwhat Job had lost afterheprayedforhisfriends, andtheLorddoubledallthathad belonged to Job. Sotheycametohim, allhis brothers and sisters andallwhohadknownhimbefore, andthey dined withhiminhishouse. TheycomfortedhimandconsoledhimforallthetroubletheLordhadbroughtonhim, andeachonegavehimapieceofsilverandagoldring. SotheLordblessedthe second partof Job’s life morethanthefirst. Hehad 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yokeofoxen, and 1,000 female donkeys. Andhealsohadsevensonsandthreedaughters. The first daughter henamedJemimah, thesecondKeziah, andthethirdKeren-Happuch. Nowhereinalltheland could womenbefoundwhowereasbeautifulasJob’s daughters, andtheir father grantedthemaninheritancealongsidetheir brothers. Afterthis Job lived 140 years; hesawhischildrenandtheirchildrentothe fourth generation. Andso Job died, oldandfullofdays. How blessed istheonewhodoesnotfollowtheadviceofthewicked, orstandinthepathwaywithsinners, orsitintheassemblyof scoffers! Insteadhe finds pleasurein obeying theLord’s commands; hemeditatesonhis commands dayandnight. Heislikeatreeplantedbyflowingstreams; ityieldsitsfruitatthe proper time, anditsleavesneverfalloff. He succeeds ineverythinghe attempts. Notsowiththewicked! Insteadtheyarelike wind-driven chaff. Forthisreasonthewickedcannotwithstandjudgment, norcansinners join theassemblyofthegodly. CertainlytheLordguardsthewayofthegodly, butthewayofthewicked ends in destruction. Whydothenationsrebel? Whyarethe countries devising plots thatwill fail? Thekingsofthe earth form aunited front; therulerscollaborateagainsttheLordandhisanointedking. They say, “Let’s tearofftheshacklesthey’ve putonus! Let’s free ourselvesfromtheirropes!” The one enthronedinheavenlaughsin disgust; the Lord tauntsthem. Thenhe angrily speaksto them and terrifies them inhis rage, saying, “I myself haveinstalledmykingonZion, myholyhill.” The king says, “Iwill announce theLord’sdecree. He said tome: ‘Youaremyson! This very dayIhavebecomeyourfather! Askme, andIwillgiveyouthenationsasyourinheritance, the ends ofthe earth asyour personal property. You will breakthemwithanironscepter; you will smashthem like apotter’s jar!’” Sonow, youkings, do what iswise; yourulersofthe earth, submit to correction! ServetheLordinfear! Repentin terror! Give sincere homage! Otherwisehewillbe angry, andyouwill die becauseofyourbehavior, whenhis anger quicklyignites. How blessed areallwhotakeshelterinhim!
