The Letter to the Church in Sardis
1 “To the angel of the church in Sardis write: ‘These are the words of him who has the *seven 𝔐A,C,K [98.6%] ¦ — ST [1.4%]seven spirits of God and the seven stars: I know yoʋr works; yoʋ have †made a name for yoʋrself and yoʋ are 𝔐K HF [44.1%] ¦ reputation for being 𝔐A,C ANT CT PCK RP TR [54.1%]made a name for yoʋrself and yoʋ are alive, but actually yoʋ are dead. 2 Be watchful and ‡strengthen 𝔐C,K+ [41.4%] • 𝔐A TR [31.4%] ¦ keep 𝔐K− HF [22.3%]strengthen what remains, which §yoʋ were about to throw away 𝔐K+ [24.7%] • 𝔐A−,K− [23.3%] • 𝔐C PCK [15.5%] ¦ was about to die 𝔐A+ CT [18.7%] • 𝔐A− ANT [7.8%] ¦ is about to die TR [1.8%]yoʋ were about to throw away, for I have not found yoʋr works to be complete in the sight of *my 𝔐A−,C,K [80.9%] ¦ — 𝔐A+ TR [19.1%]my God. 3 So remember what yoʋ have †received and heard; obey it 𝔐A,C [50.2%] ¦ received, 𝔐K [43.4%]received and heard; obey it and repent. If yoʋ do not wake up, I will come ‡upon yoʋ 𝔐A,C,K [78.6%] ¦ — CT [20.9%]upon yoʋ like a thief, and yoʋ will certainly not know at what hour I will come upon yoʋ. 4 §But yoʋ 𝔐A+,C,K [80.5%] • ANT NA27 SBL TH WH [9.1%] ¦ Yoʋ 𝔐A− TR [10%]But yoʋ have a few individuals *in 𝔐A,C,K [91.8%] ¦ even in TR [8.2%]in Sardis who have not defiled their garments. They will walk with me in white, for they are worthy. 5 He who overcomes will be †clothed 𝔐A,K+ [62.7%] ¦ clothed like them 𝔐C,K− ANT CT PCK [35.9%]clothed in white garments. I will certainly not blot out his name from the book of life, but will confess his name before my Father and before his angels. 6 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.’
The Letter to the Church in Philadelphia
7 “To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: ‘These are the words of him who is holy and true, who has the key of David and opens doors that no one ‡else can open or shut 𝔐C,K [47.7%] • MSS [5%] ¦ can shut, and shuts doors that no one can open 𝔐A [13.6%] • ECM† [9.1%] • ANT ECM† NA SBL TH WH [1.8%] • TR [1.4%] {Note: In the main Greek text the latter portion of this verse literally reads who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut it, except he who opens, and no one will open.}else can open or shut: 8 I know yoʋr works. I know that yoʋ have little strength, but yoʋ have kept my word and have not denied my name. 9 Those of the synagogue of Satan are liars. They declare themselves to be Jews but are not. Behold, I will make them come and bow down at yoʋr feet, and they will know that I love yoʋ. 10 Because yoʋ have kept my command to persevere, I will keep yoʋ from the hour of trial that is about to come upon the whole world to test those who dwell on the earth. 11 *I 𝔐A,C,K [92.8%] ¦ Behold, I TR [7.2%]I am coming quickly. Hold fast to what yoʋ have so that no one will take yoʋr crown. 12 The one who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will no longer go out at all. The Letter to the Church in Laodicea
14 “To the angel of the church ‡in Laodicea 𝔐A,C,K [71.2%] • TH WH [12.3%] ¦ of the Laodiceans TR [1.4%]in Laodicea write: ‘These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the origin of God's creation: 15 I know yoʋr works; yoʋ are neither cold nor hot. If only yoʋ were cold or hot! 16 So, because yoʋ are lukewarm, and §not hot or cold 𝔐C,K [64.4%] ¦ neither hot nor cold 𝔐A ANT CT [24.7%] ¦ neither cold nor hot TR [4.1%]not hot or cold, I am about to spit yoʋ out of my mouth. 17 For yoʋ say, “I am rich; I have become wealthy and need nothing,” but yoʋ do not realize that yoʋ are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked. 18 I counsel yoʋ to buy from me gold refined by fire so that yoʋ may be rich, and white garments so that yoʋ may clothe yoʋrself and the shame of yoʋr nakedness may not be *revealed, and eye salve to anoint yoʋr eyes 𝔐K [46.6%] • ECM† NA SBL TH WH [10.4%] ¦ revealed; and yoʋ must anoint yoʋr eyes with eye salve 𝔐A ECM† TR [17.6%] • 𝔐C PCK [13.6%]revealed, and eye salve to anoint yoʋr eyes so that yoʋ may see. 19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline. Therefore be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me. 21 To him who overcomes I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.’ ”
