Paul, an apostle ofChrist“Christ” means “Anointed One”.JesusthroughthewillofGod, andTimothyour brother, totheassemblyofGodwhichisatCorinth, withallthe saints whoareinthewholeof Achaia: GracetoyouandpeacefromGodourFatherandtheLordJesusChrist.
BlessedbetheGodandFatherofourLordJesusChrist, theFatherofmerciesandGodofallcomfort, whocomfortsusinallouraffliction, thatwemaybeabletocomfortthosewhoareinanyaffliction, throughthecomfortwithwhichweourselvesarecomfortedbyGod. ForasthesufferingsofChristaboundtous, evensoourcomfortalso abounds throughChrist. Butifweareafflicted, itisforyourcomfortandsalvation. Ifwearecomforted, itisforyourcomfort, which produces inyouthepatientenduringofthesamesufferingswhichwealsosuffer. Ourhopeforyouis steadfast, knowingthat, sinceyouarepartakersofthesufferings, soyouarealsoofthecomfort.

12 Forourboastingisthis: thetestimonyofourconsciencethatin holiness andsincerityofGod, notinfleshlywisdombutinthegraceofGod, we behaved ourselvesintheworld, andmoreabundantly towards you. 13 Forwewritenootherthingstoyouthanwhatyoureadorevenacknowledge, andIhopeyouwillacknowledgetotheend— 14 asalsoyouacknowledgedusinpart—thatweareyourboasting, evenasyoualsoareours, inthedayofourLordJesus.
15 Inthisconfidence, Iwas determined tocomefirsttoyou, thatyoumighthaveasecondbenefit, 16 andbyyoutopassintoMacedonia, andagainfromMacedoniatocometoyou, andtobesentforwardbyyouonmyjourneytoJudea. 17 WhenIthereforeplannedthis, didI show fickleness? OrthethingsthatI plan, doI plan accordingtotheflesh, thatwithmethereshouldbethe “Yes, yes” andthe “No, no?” 18 ButasGodisfaithful, ourword towards youwasnot “Yesandno.” 19 FortheSonofGod, JesusChrist, whowaspreached amongst youbyus—byme, Silvanus, andTimothy—wasnot “Yesandno,” butinhimis “Yes.” 20 For however manyarethepromisesofGod, inhimisthe “Yes.” Thereforealsothroughhimisthe “Amen”, tothegloryofGodthroughus.
21 Nowhewho establishes uswithyouinChristandanointedusisGod, 22 whoalsosealedusandgaveusthe down payment oftheSpiritinourhearts.
