Bytheriversof Babylon, therewesatdown.
Yes, wewept, whenwerememberedZion.
Onthewillowsinthat land,
wehungupourharps.
Forthere, thosewholeduscaptiveaskedusforsongs.
Thosewho tormented usdemandedsongsofjoy:
“SingusoneofthesongsofZion!”
How can wesingtheLORD’s songinaforeign land?
If I forget you, Jerusalem,
let myrighthandforget its skill.
Letmytonguesticktotheroofofmymouth if I don’t rememberyou,
if I don’t preferJerusalemabovemychiefjoy.
Remember, LORD, againstthechildrenof Edom inthedayofJerusalem,
who said, “Razeit!
Razeiteventoitsfoundation!”
Daughterof Babylon, doomed to destruction,
hewill be happy whorepaysyou,
asyouhavedoneto us.
Happy shall he be,
who takes anddashesyourlittleones against therock.
