Guilt Offering
1Ch 5:20 in HebThen the Loʀᴅ spoke to Moses, saying, AEx 22:7-15When a person sins and acts unfaithfully against the Loʀᴅ, and deceives his companion in regard to a deposit or a security entrusted to him, or through robbery, or if he has extorted from his companion, or AEx 23:4; Deut 22:1-4has found what was lost and lied about it and sworn falsely, so that he sins in regard to any one of the things a man may do; then it shall be, when he sins and becomes guilty, that he shall ALev 24:18, 21restore what he took by robbery or what he got by extortion, or the deposit which was 1Or deposited withentrusted to him or the lost thing which he found, or anything about which he swore falsely; ALev 5:16he shall make restitution for it 1Lit in its sumin full and add to it one-fifth more. BNum 5:8He shall give it to the one to whom it belongs on the day he presents his guilt offering.  “Then he shall bring to the priest his guilt offering to the Loʀᴅ, ALev 5:15a ram without defect from the flock, according to your valuation, for a guilt offering, and ALev 7:2-5the priest shall make atonement for him before the Loʀᴅ, and he will be forgiven for any one of the things which he may have done to incur guilt.”
The Priest’s Part in the Offerings
1Ch 6:1 in HebThen the Loʀᴅ spoke to Moses, saying, “Command Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is AEx 29:38-42; Num 28:3-10the law for the burnt offering: the burnt offering itself shall remain on the hearth on the altar all night until the morning, and BLev 6:12, 13the fire on the altar is to be kept burning on it. 10  ‘The priest is to put on AEx 28:39, 42; 39:27, 28his linen robe, and he shall put on undergarments next to his flesh; and he shall take up the 1Or fat ashesashes to which the fire 2Lit consumesreduces the burnt offering on the altar and place them beside the altar. 11  ‘Then he shall take off his garments and put on other garments, and carry the 1Or fat ashesashes outside the camp to a clean place. 12  ‘The fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it. It shall not go out, but the priest shall burn wood on it every morning; and he shall lay out the burnt offering on it, and offer up in smoke the fat portions of the peace offerings ALev 3:5on it. 13  ‘Fire shall be kept burning continually on the altar; it is not to go out.
14 ‘Now this is the law of the grain offering: the sons of Aaron shall present it before the Loʀᴅ in front of the altar. 15  ‘ALev 2:2, 9Then one of them shall lift up from it a handful of the fine flour of the grain offering, 1Lit and some ofwith its oil and all the incense that is on the grain offering, and he shall offer it up in smoke on the altar, a soothing aroma, as its memorial offering to the Loʀᴅ. 16  ‘ALev 2:3; 10:12-14; Ezek 44:29What is left of it Aaron and his sons are to eat. It shall be eaten as unleavened cakes in a holy place; they are to eat it in the court of the tent of meeting. 17  ‘ALev 2:11It shall not be baked with leaven. I have given it as their share from My offerings by fire; BEx 40:10; Lev 6:25, 26, 29, 30; Num 18:9it is most holy, like the sin offering and CLev 7:7; 10:16-18the guilt offering. 18  ‘ALev 6:29; 7:6; Num 18:10; 1 Cor 9:13Every male among the sons of Aaron may eat it; it is a permanent ordinance throughout your generations, from the offerings by fire to the Loʀᴅ. BLev 6:27Whoever touches them will become consecrated.’ ”
19 Then the Loʀᴅ spoke to Moses, saying, 20 “This is the offering which Aaron and his sons are to present to the Loʀᴅ on the day when he is anointed; the tenth of an ALev 5:11ephah of fine flour as BNum 4:16a 1Lit grain offering continuallyregular grain offering, half of it in the morning and half of it in the evening. 21  “It shall be prepared with oil on a ALev 2:5griddle. When it is well stirred, you shall bring it. You shall present the grain offering in baked pieces as a soothing aroma to the Loʀᴅ. 22  “The anointed priest who will be in his place 1Lit from amongamong his sons shall 2Lit dooffer it. By a permanent ordinance it shall be entirely offered up in smoke to the Loʀᴅ. 23  “So every grain offering of the priest shall be burned entirely. It shall not be eaten.”
24 Then the Loʀᴅ spoke to Moses, saying, 25 “Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, ‘This is the law of the sin offering: ALev 1:11in the place where the burnt offering is slain the sin offering shall be slain before the Loʀᴅ; it is most holy. 26  ‘ALev 6:29The priest who offers it for sin shall eat it. It shall be eaten in a holy place, in the court of the tent of meeting. 27  ‘ALev 7:19Anyone who touches its flesh will become consecrated; and when any of its blood 1Lit one sprinklessplashes on a garment, in a holy place you shall wash what was splashed on. 28  ‘Also ALev 11:33; 15:12the earthenware vessel in which it was boiled shall be broken; and if it was boiled in a bronze vessel, then it shall be scoured and rinsed in water. 29  ‘ALev 6:18Every male among the priests may eat of it; BLev 6:17, 25it is most holy. 30  ‘But no sin offering ALev 4:1-21of which any of the blood is brought into the tent of meeting to make atonement BLev 4:7, 18in the holy place shall be eaten; CLev 4:11, 12, 21it shall be burned with fire.
