1 Then AEx 19:3; 25:22; Num 7:89the Loʀᴅ called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying, 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When any man of you brings an 1Heb qorbanAMark 7:11offering to the Loʀᴅ, you shall bring your 1Heb qorbanoffering of animals from BLev 22:18fthe herd or the flock. 3  ‘If his offering is a ALev 6:8-13burnt offering from the herd, he shall offer it, a male BEx 12:5; Lev 22:20-24; Deut 15:21; 17:1without defect; he shall offer it CLev 17:8, 9; Deut 12:5, 6, 11at the doorway of the tent of meeting, that he may be accepted before the Loʀᴅ. 4  ‘AEx 29:10, 15, 19; Lev 3:2, 8He shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, that it may be accepted for him to make BEx 29:33; Lev 4:20, 26, 31; 2 Chr 29:23, 24atonement on his behalf. 5  ‘AEx 29:11, 16, 20He shall slay the 1Or one of the herd; lit son of the herdyoung bull before the Loʀᴅ; and Aaron’s sons the priests shall offer up BLev 17:11the blood and CLev 1:11; 3:2, 8, 13; Heb 12:24; 1 Pet 1:2sprinkle the blood around on the altar that is at the doorway of the tent of meeting. 6  ‘ALev 7:8He shall then skin the burnt offering and cut it into its pieces. 7  ‘ALev 6:8-13The sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire. 8  ‘Then Aaron’s sons the priests shall arrange the pieces, the head and the ALev 1:12; 3:3, 4; 8:20suet over the wood which is on the fire that is on the altar. 9  ‘Its AEx 12:9entrails, however, and its legs he shall wash with water. And BNum 15:8-10; 28:11-14the priest shall offer up in smoke all of it on the altar for a burnt offering, an offering by fire of CGen 8:21; Ex 29:18, 25; Lev 1:13; Num 15:3; Eph 5:2a soothing aroma to the Loʀᴅ.

10 ‘But if his offering is from the flock, of the sheep or of the goats, for a burnt offering, he shall offer it a AEx 12:5; Lev 1:3; Ezek 43:22; 1 Pet 1:19male without defect. 11  ‘AEx 24:6; Lev 1:5; 8:19; 9:12He shall slay it on the side of the altar northward before the Loʀᴅ, and Aaron’s sons the priests shall sprinkle its blood around on the altar. 12  ‘He shall then cut it into its pieces with its head and its ALev 3:3, 4suet, and the priest shall arrange them on the wood which is on the fire that is on the altar. 13  ‘The entrails, however, and the legs he shall wash with water. And ANum 15:4-7; 28:11-14the priest shall offer all of it, and offer it up in smoke on the altar; it is a burnt offering, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the Loʀᴅ.

14 ‘But if his offering to the Loʀᴅ is a burnt offering of birds, then he shall bring his offering from the AGen 15:9; Lev 5:7, 11; 12:8; Luke 2:24turtledoves or from young pigeons. 15  ‘The priest shall bring it to the altar, and wring off its head and offer it up in smoke on the altar; and its blood is to be drained out ALev 5:9on the side of the altar. 16  ‘He shall also take away its crop with its feathers and cast it beside the altar eastward, to the place of the 1Or fat ashesALev 6:10ashes. 17  ‘Then he shall tear it by its wings, but AGen 15:10; Lev 5:8shall not sever it. And the priest shall offer it up in smoke on the altar on the wood which is on the fire; BLev 9:13it is a burnt offering, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the Loʀᴅ.
