Letters.bmp (630 bytes) Introduction to Donor Tracking Notebook

The Donor Tracking Notebook is a simple program that is designed to assist small to medium sized nonprofit organizations with the tasks of writing receipts, sending pledge reminders, maintaining a mailing list, and printing addresses. It doesn't do all of this work by itself. It is designed to be used in conjunction with at least two other programs: a word processing program that can do mail merge, and a checkbook program. This simple philosophy is explained more completely, later.

The Donor Tracking Notebook looks kind of like a tabbed notebook. It has five tabs: Address, Donations, Pledges, Help, Reports, and System. You enter and look up names, addresses, phone numbers, and other information using the Address tab. Donations and pledges for the person currently selected on the address tab are tracked on those two tabs. The reports tab is used to print directory listings, print receipts, and print pledge reminders. The system tab is used for configuration options and the exit button.

There are several things that this program doesn't do. It is not a word processor. It is not a checkbook or accounting program. It is not a client tracking program. It doesn't provide detailed reports of whatever you can think of. It doesn't track donations into separate accounts for different purposes. It is not a generalized database program. It isn't available in languages besides English, and is optimized for use in the USA (although it can be used in other countries if you can put up with certain idiosyncrasies). If any of these things are a problem, you need different software. On the other hand, if you want an easy-to-use and inexpensive solution to receipt, pledge, and mailing list management for small to medium sized nonprofit organizations, then this program might interest you.
