1 Now the Loʀᴅ said to Moses, “One more plague I will bring on Pharaoh and on Egypt; AEx 12:31, 33, 39after that he will let you go from here. When he lets you go, he will surely drive you out from here completely. 2  “Speak now in the 1Lit earshearing of the people that AEx 3:22; 12:35, 36each man ask from his neighbor and each woman from her neighbor for articles of silver and articles of gold.” 3 AEx 3:21; 12:36; Ps 106:46The Loʀᴅ gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. BDeut 34:10-12Furthermore, the man Moses himself was 1Lit very greatgreatly esteemed in the land of Egypt, both in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the sight of the people.

4 Moses said, “Thus says the Loʀᴅ, ‘About AEx 12:29midnight I am going out into the midst of Egypt, 5 and AEx 12:12, 29; Ps 78:51; 105:36; 135:8; 136:10all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of the Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the slave girl who is behind the millstones; all the firstborn of the cattle as well. 6  ‘Moreover, there shall be AEx 12:30a great cry in all the land of Egypt, such as there has not been before and such as shall never be again. 7  ‘AEx 8:22; Josh 10:21But against any of the sons of Israel a dog will not even 1Lit sharpen his tonguebark, whether against man or beast, that you may 2Lit knowunderstand how the Loʀᴅ makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.’ 8  “AEx 12:31-33All these your servants will come down to me and bow themselves 1Lit tobefore me, saying, ‘Go out, you and all the people who 2Lit are at your feetfollow you,’ and after that I will go out.” BHeb 11:27And he went out from Pharaoh in hot anger.

9 Then the Loʀᴅ said to Moses, “AEx 7:4Pharaoh will not listen to you, so BEx 7:3that My wonders will be multiplied in the land of Egypt.” 10 AEx 4:21Moses and Aaron performed all these wonders before Pharaoh; yet BEx 7:3; 9:12; 10:20, 27; Josh 11:20; Is 63:17; John 12:40the Loʀᴅ 1Lit made stronghardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the sons of Israel go out of his land.
