God’s Vengeance on the Nations
Who is this who comes from APs 137:7; Is 34:5, 6; Ezek 25:12-14; 35:1-15; Obad 1-14; Mal 1:2-5Edom,
With BIs 63:2garments of 1Or crimsonglowing colors from CIs 34:6; Jer 49:13; Amos 1:12Bozrah,
This One who is majestic in His apparel,
2Lit IncliningMarching in the greatness of His strength?
“It is I who speak in righteousness, DZeph 3:17mighty to save.”
Why is Your apparel red,
And Your garments like the one who ARev 19:13, 15treads in the wine press?
ARev 14:20; 19:15I have trodden the wine trough alone,
And from the peoples there was no man with Me.
I also BIs 22:5; 28:3trod them in My anger
And CMic 7:10trampled them in My wrath;
And DRev 19:13their 1Lit juicelifeblood is sprinkled on My garments,
And I 2Lit defiledstained all My raiment.
“For the AIs 34:8; 35:4; 61:2; Jer 51:6day of vengeance was in My heart,
And My year of redemption has come.
“I looked, and there was AIs 59:16no one to help,
And I was astonished and there was no one to uphold;
So My BPs 44:3; Is 40:10; 52:10own arm brought salvation to Me,
And My wrath upheld Me.
“I AIs 22:5; 34:2; 65:12trod down the peoples in My anger
And made them BIs 29:9; 51:17, 21drunk in My wrath,
And I 1Lit brought down their juice to the earthpoured out their lifeblood on the earth.”

God’s Ancient Mercies Recalled
I shall make mention of the APs 25:6; 92:2; Is 54:8, 10lovingkindnesses of the Loʀᴅ, the praises of the Loʀᴅ,
According to all that the Loʀᴅ has granted us,
And the great B1 Kin 8:66; Neh 9:25, 35goodness toward the house of Israel,
Which He has granted them according to His CPs 51:1; 86:5, 15; Is 54:7, 8; Eph 2:4compassion
And according to the abundance of His lovingkindnesses.
For He said, “Surely, they are AEx 6:7; Is 3:15; 51:4My people,
Sons who will not deal falsely.”
So He became their BIs 60:16Savior.
In all their affliction 1Another reading is He was not an adversaryAJudg 10:16He was afflicted,
And the BEx 23:20-23; 33:14, 15angel of His presence saved them;
In His CDeut 7:7, 8love and in His mercy He DIs 43:1; 52:9redeemed them,
And He EDeut 1:31; 32:10-12; Is 46:3lifted them and carried them all the days of old.
10 But they APs 78:40; 106:33; Acts 7:51; Eph 4:30rebelled
And grieved His BPs 51:11; Is 63:11Holy Spirit;
Therefore He turned Himself to become their enemy,
He fought against them.
11 Then APs 106:44, 45His people remembered the days of old, of Moses.
Where is BIs 51:10He who brought them up out of the sea with the 1Some mss read shepherdshepherds of His flock?
Where is He who CNum 11:17, 25, 29; Hag 2:5put His Holy Spirit in the midst of 2Lit himthem,
12 Who caused His AEx 6:6; 15:16glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses,
Who BEx 14:21, 22; Is 11:15; 51:10divided the waters before them to make for Himself an everlasting name,
13 Who led them through the depths?
Like the horse in the wilderness, they did not AJer 31:9stumble;
14 As the cattle which go down into the valley,
The Spirit of the AJosh 21:44; 23:1Loʀᴅ gave 1Lit himthem rest.
So You BDeut 32:12led Your people,
To make for Yourself a glorious name.

“You Are Our Father”
15 ADeut 26:15; Ps 80:14Look down from heaven and see from Your holy and glorious BPs 68:5; 123:1habitation;
Where are Your CIs 9:7; 26:11; 37:32; 42:13; 59:17zeal and Your mighty deeds?
The DJer 31:20; Hos 11:8stirrings of Your heart and Your compassion are restrained toward me.
16 For You are our AIs 1:2; 64:8Father, though BIs 29:22; 41:8; 51:2Abraham does not know us
And Israel does not recognize us.
You, O Loʀᴅ, are our Father,
Our CIs 41:14; 44:6; 60:16Redeemer from of old is Your name.
17 Why, O Loʀᴅ, do You AIs 30:28; Ezek 14:7-9cause us to stray from Your ways
And BIs 29:13, 14harden our heart from fearing You?
CNum 10:36Return for the sake of Your servants, the tribes of Your heritage.
18 Your holy people possessed Your sanctuary for a little while,
Our adversaries have APs 74:3-7; Is 64:11trodden it down.
19 We have become like those over whom You have never ruled,
Like those who were not called by Your name.
