Woe to Jerusalem and the Nations
1 Woe to her who is AJer 5:23rebellious and BEzek 23:30defiled,
The CJer 6:6tyrannical city!
2 She AJer 7:23-28heeded no voice,
She BJer 2:30; 5:3; 2 Tim 3:16accepted no instruction.
She did not CPs 78:22; Jer 13:25trust in the Loʀᴅ,
She did not DPs 73:28draw near to her God.
3 Her AEzek 22:27princes within her are roaring lions,
Her judges are BJer 5:6; Hab 1:8wolves at evening;
They leave nothing for the morning.
4 Her prophets are AJudg 9:4reckless, treacherous men;
Her BEzek 22:26; Mal 2:7, 8priests have profaned the sanctuary.
They have done violence to the law.
5 The Loʀᴅ is ADeut 32:4righteous BZeph 3:15, 17within her;
He will CPs 92:15do no injustice.
DJob 7:18Every morning He brings His justice to light;
He does not fail.
But the unjust EZeph 2:1knows no shame.
6 “I have cut off nations;
Their corner towers are in ruins.
I have made their streets AJer 9:12; Zech 7:14; Matt 23:38desolate,
With no one passing by;
Their BLev 26:31; Is 6:11cities are laid waste,
Without a man, CZeph 2:5without an inhabitant.
7 “I said, ‘Surely you will revere Me,
AJob 36:10; Ps 32:8; 1 Tim 1:5Accept instruction.’
So her dwelling will BJer 7:7not be cut off
According to all that I have appointed concerning her.
But they were eager to CHos 9:9corrupt all their deeds.
 
8 “Therefore APs 27:14; Is 30:18; Hab 2:3wait for Me,” declares the Loʀᴅ,
“For the day when I rise up as a witness.
Indeed, My decision is to BEzek 38:14-23; Joel 3:2gather nations,
To assemble kingdoms,
To pour out on them My indignation,
All My burning anger;
For CZeph 1:18all the earth will be devoured
By the fire of My zeal.
9 “For then I will 1Lit changegive to the peoples AIs 19:18; 57:19purified lips,
That all of them may BPs 22:27; 86:9; Hab 2:14; Zeph 2:11call on the name of the Loʀᴅ,
To serve Him 2Lit with one shouldershoulder to shoulder.

My 1Or suppliantsworshipers, 2Lit the daughter of My dispersed onesMy dispersed ones,
Will BIs 60:6, 7bring My offerings.
11 “In that day you will AIs 45:17; 54:4; Joel 2:26, 27feel no shame
Because of all your deeds
By which you have rebelled against Me;
For then I will remove from your midst
Your BIs 2:12; 5:15proud, exulting ones,
And you will never again be haughty
On My CIs 11:9; 56:7; Ezek 20:40holy mountain.
A Remnant of Israel
12 “But I will leave among you
A AIs 14:30humble and lowly people,
And they will BIs 14:32; 50:10; Nah 1:7; Zech 13:8, 9take refuge in the name of the Loʀᴅ.
13 “The AIs 10:20-22; Mic 4:7; Zeph 2:7remnant of Israel will BPs 119:3; Jer 31:33; Zeph 3:5do no wrong
And CZech 8:3, 16; Rev 14:5tell no lies,
Nor will a deceitful tongue
Be found in their mouths;
For they will DEzek 34:13-15feed and lie down
With no one to make them tremble.”
 
14 Shout for joy, O daughter of Zion!
AZech 9:9Shout in triumph, O Israel!
Rejoice and exult with all your heart,
O daughter of Jerusalem!
15 The Loʀᴅ has taken away APs 19:9; John 5:30; Rev 18:20His judgments against you,
He has cleared away your enemies.
The King of Israel, the Loʀᴅ, is BEzek 37:26-28; Zeph 3:5in your midst;
You will CIs 54:14fear disaster no more.
16 AIs 25:9In that day it will be said to Jerusalem:
“BIs 35:3, 4Do not be afraid, O Zion;

He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.

The reproach of exile is a burden on 2Lit herthem.
19 “Behold, I am going to deal at that time
With all your AIs 60:14oppressors,

And gather the outcast,

In all the earth.

Even at the time when I gather you together;

Among all the peoples of the earth,
