God Answers the Prophet
1 I will AIs 21:8stand on my guard post
And station myself on the rampart;

4 “Behold, as for the APs 49:18; Is 13:11proud one,
His soul is not right within him;
But the BRom 1:17; Gal 3:11; Heb 10:38righteous will live by his 1Or faithfulnessfaith.
So that he does not C2 Kin 14:10stay at home.
He DProv 27:20; 30:16; Is 5:11-15enlarges his appetite like Sheol,
And he is like death, never satisfied.
He also gathers to himself all nations
And collects to himself all peoples.
6 “Will not all of these AIs 14:4-10; Jer 50:13take up a taunt-song against him,
Even mockery and insinuations against him
And say, ‘BJob 20:15-29; Hab 2:12Woe to him who increases what is not his—
For how long—
And makes himself 1Lit heavyrich with loans?’
And those who 2Lit violently shake youcollect from you awaken?
Indeed, you will become plunder for them.
8 “Because you have AIs 33:1; Jer 27:7; Zech 2:8looted many nations,
All the remainder of the peoples will loot you—
Because of human bloodshed and violence 1Lit of the landdone to the land,
To the town and all its inhabitants.
9 “Woe to him who gets AJer 22:13; Ezek 22:27evil gain for his house
To BJer 49:16put his nest on high,
To be delivered from the hand of calamity!
10 “You have devised a A2 Kin 9:26; Nah 1:14; Hab 2:16shameful thing for your house
By cutting off many peoples;
So you are BJer 26:19sinning against yourself.
11 “Surely the AJosh 24:27; Luke 19:40stone will cry out from the wall,
And the rafter will answer it from the 1Lit woodframework.
12 “Woe to him who AMic 3:10; Nah 3:1builds a city with bloodshed
And founds a town with 1Or injusticeviolence!
13 “Is it not indeed from the Loʀᴅ of hosts
That peoples AIs 50:11; Jer 51:58toil for fire,
And nations grow weary for nothing?
14 “For the earth will be APs 22:27; Is 11:9; Zech 14:9filled
With the knowledge of the glory of the Loʀᴅ,
As the waters cover the sea.
15 “Woe to you who make 1Lit his neighboryour neighbors drink,
Who mix in your venom even to make them drunk
So as to look on their nakedness!
16 “You will be filled with disgrace rather than honor.
