1 And the word of the Loʀᴅ came to me saying, 2 “Son of man, set your face toward AEzek 38:3, 14, 16, 18; 39:1, 11; Rev 20:8Gog of the land of BGen 10:2; Ezek 39:6; Rev 20:8Magog, the 1Or chief prince of Meshechprince of CEzek 38:3; 39:1Rosh, DEzek 27:13; 38:3; 39:1Meshech and DEzek 27:13; 38:3; 39:1Tubal, and prophesy against him 3 and say, ‘Thus says the Lord 1Heb YHWH, usually rendered Loʀᴅ, and so throughout the chGoᴅ, “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, 2Or chief prince of Meshechprince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal. 4  “I will turn you about and put hooks into your jaws, and I will AIs 43:17bring you out, and all your army, BEzek 38:15; Dan 11:40horses and horsemen, all of them 1Or clothed in full armorsplendidly attired, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them wielding swords; 5 A2 Chr 36:20; Ezra 1:1; Ezek 27:10; Dan 8:20Persia, 1Lit CushBGen 10:6-8; Ezek 30:4, 5Ethiopia and CEzek 27:10; 30:5Put with them, all of them with shield and helmet; 6 AGen 10:2, 3Gomer with all its troops; BGen 10:3; Ezek 27:14Beth-togarmah from the remote parts of the north with all its troops—many peoples with you.

7 “AIs 8:9Be prepared, and prepare yourself, you and all your companies that are assembled about you, and be a guard for them. 8  “AIs 24:22After many days you will be summoned; in the latter years you will come into the land that is restored from the sword, whose inhabitants have been BIs 11:11; Ezek 36:24; 37:21; 38:12; 39:27, 28gathered from many 1Lit peoplesnations to the CEzek 34:13; 36:1-8mountains of Israel which had been a continual waste; but 2Lit it wasits people were brought out from the 1Lit peoplesnations, and they are DEzek 38:11, 14; 39:26living securely, all of them. 9  “You will go up, you will come AIs 5:28; 21:1; 25:4; 28:2; Jer 4:13like a storm; you will be like a BEzek 30:18; 38:16; Joel 2:2cloud covering the land, you and all your troops, and many peoples with you.”

10 ‘Thus says the Lord Goᴅ, “It will come about on that day, that 1Lit wordsthoughts will come into your mind and you will APs 36:4; Mic 2:1devise an evil plan, 11 and you will say, ‘I will go up against the land of 1Or open countryAZech 2:4unwalled villages. I will go against those who are BJer 49:31at rest, that live securely, all of them living without walls and having no bars or gates, 12 to AIs 10:6; Ezek 29:19capture spoil and to seize plunder, to turn your hand against the waste places which are now inhabited, and against the people who are gathered from the nations, who have acquired cattle and goods, who live at the 1Lit navelcenter of the world.’ 13  “AEzek 27:22, 23Sheba and BEzek 25:13; 27:15, 20Dedan and the merchants of CEzek 27:12Tarshish with all its 1Or young lionsvillages will say to you, ‘Have you come to capture spoil? Have you assembled your company to seize plunder, to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to capture great DIs 10:6; 33:23; Jer 15:13spoil?’ ” ’

14 “Therefore prophesy, son of man, and say to Gog, ‘Thus says the Lord Goᴅ, “On that day when My people Israel are AJer 23:6; Ezek 38:8, 11; Zech 2:5, 8living securely, will you not know it? 15  “AEzek 39:2You will come from your place out of the remote parts of the north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great assembly and a mighty army; 16 and you will come up against My people Israel like a cloud to cover the land. It shall come about in the last days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may APs 83:18; Ezek 36:23; 38:23know Me when I am BIs 5:16; 8:13; 29:23; Ezek 28:22sanctified through you before their eyes, O Gog.”

17 ‘Thus says the Lord Goᴅ, “Are you the one of whom I spoke in former days through My servants the prophets of Israel, who AIs 5:26-29; 34:1-6; 63:1-6; 66:15, 16; Joel 3:9-14prophesied in those days for many years that I would bring you against them? 18  “It will come about on that day, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,” declares the Lord Goᴅ, “that My fury will mount up in My APs 18:8, 15anger. 19  “In My ADeut 32:22; Ps 18:7, 8; Ezek 5:13; 36:5, 6; Nah 1:2; Heb 12:29zeal and in My blazing wrath I declare that on that day there will surely be a great 1Or shakingBJoel 3:16; Hag 2:6, 7, 21earthquake in the land of Israel. 20  “AJer 4:24, 25; Hos 4:3; Nah 1:4-6The fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all the creeping things that creep on the earth, and all the men who are on the face of the earth will shake at My presence; the BZech 14:4mountains also will be thrown down, the steep pathways will 1Lit fallcollapse and every wall will fall to the ground. 21  “I will call for a AEzek 14:17sword against 1I.e. Goghim on all My mountains,” declares the Lord Goᴅ. “BJudg 7:22; 1 Sam 14:20; 2 Chr 20:23; Hag 2:22Every man’s sword will be against his brother. 22  “With pestilence and with blood I will enter into AIs 66:16; Jer 25:31judgment with him; and I will rain on him and on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, 1Lit an overflowinga torrential rain, with BPs 11:6; 18:12-14; Is 28:17hailstones, fire and brimstone. 23  “I will magnify Myself, sanctify Myself, and APs 9:16; Ezek 37:28; 38:16make Myself known in the sight of many nations; and they will know that I am the Loʀᴅ.” ’
