God’s Controversy with Israel
1 AHos 5:1Listen to the word of the Loʀᴅ, O sons of Israel,

They employ violence, so that FHos 6:8; 12:14bloodshed 1Lit touchesfollows bloodshed.
3 Therefore the land AIs 24:4; 33:9; Amos 5:16; Zeph 1:3mourns,
And everyone who lives in it languishes
Along with the beasts of the field and the birds of the sky,
And also the fish of the sea 1Lit are taken awaydisappear.
For your people are like those who BDeut 17:12contend with the priest.
5 So you will AEzek 14:3, 7; Hos 5:5stumble by day,
And the prophet also will stumble with you by night;
And I will destroy your BJer 15:8; Hos 2:2, 5mother.
6 AIs 5:13My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Because you have BHos 4:14; Mal 2:7, 8rejected knowledge,
I also will CZech 11:8, 9, 15-17reject you from being My priest.
Since you have DHos 2:13; 8:14; 13:6forgotten the EHos 8:1, 12law of your God,
I also will forget your children.
7 The more they AHos 10:1; 13:6multiplied, the more they sinned against Me;
I will BHab 2:16change their glory into shame.
And BIs 56:11; Mic 3:11direct their desire toward their iniquity.
9 And it will be, like people, AIs 24:2; Jer 5:31like priest;
So I will BHos 8:13; 9:9punish them for their ways
And repay them for their deeds.

They will BHos 7:4play the harlot, but not increase,

For a spirit of harlotry has led them astray,
And they have played the harlot, departing 1Lit from underfrom their God.

Because their shade is pleasant.
Therefore your daughters play the harlot

14 I will not punish your daughters when they play the harlot

For the men themselves go apart with harlots
And offer sacrifices with ADeut 23:17temple prostitutes;

15 Though you, Israel, play the harlot,
Do not let Judah become guilty;
Also do not go to AHos 9:15; 12:11Gilgal,
Or go up to Beth-aven

“As the Loʀᴅ lives!”

Like a stubborn heifer,
