The People’s Apostasy Rebuked
Hear this, O priests!
Give heed, O house of Israel!
Listen, O house of the king!
For the judgment applies to you,
For you have been a AHos 9:8snare at Mizpah
And a net spread out on Tabor.
The AHos 9:15revolters have 1Or waded deep in slaughterBIs 29:15; Hos 4:2; 6:9gone deep in depravity,
But I will chastise all of them.
I AAmos 3:2; 5:12know Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from Me;
For now, O Ephraim, you have played the harlot,
Israel has defiled itself.
Their deeds will not allow them
To return to their God.
For a AHos 4:12spirit of harlotry is within them,
And they BHos 4:6, 14do not know the Loʀᴅ.
Moreover, the AHos 7:10pride of Israel testifies against him,
And Israel and Ephraim stumble in their iniquity;
BEzek 23:31-35Judah also has stumbled with them.
They will AHos 8:13; Mic 6:6, 7go with their flocks and herds
To seek the Loʀᴅ, but they will BProv 1:28; Is 1:15; Jer 14:12not find Him;
He has CEzek 8:6withdrawn from them.
They have AIs 48:8; Jer 3:20; Hos 6:7dealt treacherously against the Loʀᴅ,
For they have borne 1Lit strangeBHos 2:4illegitimate children.
Now the CIs 1:14; Hos 2:11new moon will devour them with their 2Lit portionsland.

AJoel 2:1Blow the horn in BHos 9:9; 10:9Gibeah,
The trumpet in Ramah.
Sound an alarm at Beth-aven:
CJudg 5:14Behind you, Benjamin!”
Ephraim will become a AIs 28:1-4; Hos 9:11-17desolation in the BIs 37:3day of rebuke;
Among the tribes of Israel I CIs 46:10; Zech 1:6declare what is sure.
10 The princes of Judah have become like those who ADeut 19:14; 27:17move a boundary;
On them I will BEzek 7:8pour out My wrath CPs 32:6; 93:3, 4like water.
11 Ephraim is ADeut 28:33oppressed, crushed in judgment,
BMic 6:16Because he was determined to 1Or with some ancient versions, follow nothingnessfollow man’s command.
12 Therefore I am like a APs 39:11; Is 51:8moth to Ephraim
And like rottenness to the house of Judah.
13 When Ephraim saw his sickness,
And Judah his 1Or ulcerwound,
Then Ephraim went to AHos 7:11; 8:9; 12:1Assyria
And sent to 2Or the avenging king or the great kingBHos 10:6King Jareb.
But he is CJer 30:12-15unable to heal you,
Or to cure you of your 1Or ulcerwound.
14 For I will be APs 7:2; Hos 13:7, 8; Amos 3:4like a lion to Ephraim
And like a young lion to the house of Judah.
BPs 50:22I, even I, will tear to pieces and go away,
I will carry away, and there will be CMic 5:8none to deliver.
15 I will go away and return to My place
Until they 1Or bear their punishmentAIs 64:7-9; Jer 3:13, 14acknowledge their guilt and seek My face;
In their affliction they will earnestly BPs 50:15; 78:34; Jer 2:27; Hos 3:5seek Me.
