1 Moreover, the word of the Loʀᴅ came to me saying, 2 “And you, son of man, thus says the Lord 1Heb YHWH, usually rendered LoʀᴅGoᴅ to the land of Israel, ‘An AEzek 7:3, 5, 6; 11:13; Amos 8:2, 10end! The end is coming on the four corners of the land. 3  ‘Now the end is upon you, and I will send My anger against you; I will judge you according to your ways and bring all your abominations upon you. 4  ‘For My eye will have no pity on you, nor will I spare you, but I will AEzek 11:21; 22:31; Hos 9:7bring your ways upon you, and your abominations will be among you; then you will BEzek 6:7, 14; 7:27know that I am the Loʀᴅ!’

5 “Thus says the Lord 1Heb YHWH, usually rendered LoʀᴅGoᴅ, ‘A A2 Kin 21:12, 13; Nah 1:9disaster, unique disaster, behold it is coming! 6  ‘An end is coming; the end has come! It has AZech 13:7awakened against you; behold, it has come! 7  ‘Your doom has come to you, O inhabitant of the land. The AEzek 7:12; 12:23-25, 28time has come, the BIs 22:5day is near—tumult rather than joyful shouting on the mountains. 8  ‘Now I will shortly AIs 42:25; Ezek 9:8; 14:19; Nah 1:6pour out My wrath on you and spend My anger against you; BEzek 7:3; 33:20; 36:19judge you according to your ways and bring on you all your abominations. 9  ‘My eye will show no pity nor will I spare. I will 1Lit giverepay you according to your ways, while your abominations are in your midst; then you will know that I, the Loʀᴅ, do the smiting.

10 ‘Behold, the day! Behold, it is coming! Your doom has gone forth; the APs 89:32; Is 10:5rod has budded, arrogance has blossomed. 11  ‘Violence 1Lit has risenhas grown into a rod of APs 73:8; 125:3; Is 59:6-8wickedness. None of them shall remain, none of their people, none of their BZeph 1:18wealth, nor anything eminent among them. 12  ‘The AEzek 7:5-7, 10; 1 Cor 7:29-31; James 5:8, 9time has come, the day has arrived. Let not the BProv 20:14; 1 Cor 7:30buyer rejoice nor the seller mourn; for CIs 5:13, 14; Ezek 6:11, 12; 7:14wrath is against all their multitude. 13  ‘Indeed, the seller will not 1Lit return toALev 25:24-28, 31regain 2Lit thing sold, i.e. his inherited landwhat he sold as long as 3Lit their life among the living onesthey both live; for the vision regarding all their multitude will not 4Lit returnbe averted, nor will any of them maintain his life by his iniquity.

14 ‘They have ANum 10:9; Jer 4:5blown the trumpet and made everything ready, but no one is going to the battle, for My wrath is against all 1Lit hertheir multitude. 15  ‘The AJer 14:18; Ezek 5:12; 6:11, 12; 12:16sword is outside and the plague and the famine are within. He who is in the field will die by the sword; famine and the plague will also consume those in the city. 16  ‘Even when their survivors AEzra 9:15; Is 37:31; Ezek 6:8; 14:22escape, they will be on the mountains like BIs 38:14doves of the valleys, all of them 1Lit moaningCIs 59:11; Nah 2:7mourning, each over his own iniquity. 17  ‘All AIs 13:7; Ezek 21:7; 22:14; Heb 12:12hands will hang limp and all knees will 1Lit run with waterbecome like water. 18  ‘They will AIs 15:3; Ezek 27:31; Amos 8:10gird themselves with sackcloth and BJob 21:6; Ps 55:5shuddering will overwhelm them; and shame will be on all faces and CEzek 27:31baldness on all their heads. 19  ‘They will AIs 2:20; 30:22fling their silver into the streets and their gold will become an abhorrent thing; their BProv 11:4; Zeph 1:18silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Loʀᴅ. They cannot satisfy their 1Lit soulappetite nor can they fill their stomachs, for their iniquity has become an occasion of stumbling.

20  ‘They transformed the beauty of His ornaments into pride, and AJer 7:30they made the images of their abominations and their detestable things with it; therefore I will make it an abhorrent thing to them. 21  ‘I will give it into the hands of the A2 Kin 24:13; Ps 74:2-8; Jer 52:13foreigners as plunder and to the wicked of the earth as spoil, and they will profane it. 22  ‘I will also turn My AJer 18:17; Ezek 39:23, 24face from them, and they will profane My secret place; then robbers will enter and profane it.

23 ‘AJer 27:2Make the chain, for the land is full of 1Lit judgment of bloodBEzek 9:9; Hos 4:2bloody crimes and the city is CEzek 8:17full of violence. 24  ‘Therefore, I will bring the worst of the AEzek 21:31; 28:7nations, and they will possess their houses. I will also make the BEzek 33:28pride of the strong ones cease, and their C2 Chr 7:20; Ezek 24:21holy places will be profaned. 25  ‘When anguish comes, they will seek AEzek 13:10, 16peace, but there will be none. 26  ‘AIs 47:11; Jer 4:20Disaster will come upon disaster and BEzek 21:7rumor will be added to rumor; then they will seek a CJer 21:2; 37:17vision from a prophet, but the DPs 74:9; Ezek 22:26; Mic 3:6law will be lost from the priest and EJer 18:18; Ezek 11:2counsel from the elders. 27  ‘The king will mourn, the prince will be AJob 8:22; Ps 35:26; 109:18, 29; Ezek 26:16clothed with horror, and the hands of the people of the land will 1Lit be terrifiedtremble. According to their conduct I will deal with them, and by their judgments I will judge them. And they will know that I am the Loʀᴅ.’ ”
