Bildad Says God Rewards the Good
Then Bildad the Shuhite 1Lit answered and saidanswered,
“How long will you say these things,
And the AJob 6:26words of your mouth be a mighty wind?
“Does AGen 18:25; Deut 32:4; 2 Chr 19:7; Job 34:10, 12; 36:23; 37:23; Rom 3:5God pervert justice?
Or does 1Heb Shaddaithe Almighty pervert what is right?
AJob 1:5, 18, 19If your sons sinned against Him,
Then He delivered them into the 1Lit handpower of their transgression.
“If you would AJob 5:17-27seek God
And implore the compassion of 1Heb Shaddaithe Almighty,
If you are pure and upright,
Surely now AJob 22:27; 34:28; Ps 7:6He would rouse Himself for you
And restore your righteous 1Lit placeBJob 5:24estate.
“Though your beginning was insignificant,
Yet your AJob 42:12end will increase greatly.
 
“Please ADeut 4:32; 32:7; Job 15:18; 20:4inquire of past generations,
And consider the things searched out by their fathers.
“For we are only of yesterday and know nothing,
Because AJob 14:2our days on earth are as a shadow.
10 “Will they not teach you and tell you,
And bring forth words from their minds?
 
11 “Can the papyrus grow up without a marsh?
Can the rushes grow without water?
12 “While it is still green and not cut down,
Yet it withers before any other 1Lit reedplant.
13 “So are the paths of APs 9:17all who forget God;

14 Whose confidence is fragile,

He holds fast to it, but it does not endure.
16 “He 1Lit is lushAPs 37:35; Jer 11:16thrives before the sun,
And his BPs 80:11shoots spread out over his garden.
17 “His roots wrap around a rock pile,
He 1Heb seesgrasps a house of stones.
18 “If he is 1Lit swallowed upremoved from AJob 7:10his place,
Then it will deny him, saying,BJob 7:8I never saw you.’
19 “Behold, AJob 20:5this is the joy of His way;
And out of the dust others will spring.
20 “Lo, AJob 4:7God will not reject a man of integrity,
Nor BJob 21:30will He 1Lit strengthen the hand ofsupport the evildoers.
21 “He will yet fill AJob 5:22; Ps 126:1, 2your mouth with laughter
And your lips with shouting.
22 “Those who hate you will be APs 132:18clothed with shame,
And the BJob 8:15; 15:34; 18:14; 21:28tent of the wicked will be no longer.”
