7 “The Loʀᴅ shall cause your enemies who rise up against you to be 1Lit smittendefeated before you; they will come out against you one way and will flee before you seven ways. 8  “The Loʀᴅ will command the blessing upon you in your barns and in ADeut 15:10all that you put your hand to, and He will bless you in the land which the Loʀᴅ your God gives you. 9  “AEx 19:5The Loʀᴅ will establish you as a holy people to Himself, as He swore to you, if you keep the commandments of the Loʀᴅ your God and walk in His ways. 10  “So all the peoples of the earth will see that 1Lit the name of the Loʀᴅ is called upon youA2 Chr 7:14you are called by the name of the Loʀᴅ, and they will be afraid of you. 11  “ADeut 28:4; Prov 10:22The Loʀᴅ will make you abound in prosperity, in the 1Lit fruitoffspring of your 2Or wombbody and in the 1Lit fruitoffspring of your beast and in the 1Lit fruitproduce of your ground, in the land which the Loʀᴅ swore to your fathers to give you. 12  “The Loʀᴅ will open for you His good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand; and ADeut 23:20you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. 13  “ADeut 28:1, 44The Loʀᴅ will make you the head and not the tail, and you only will be above, and you will not be underneath, if you listen to the commandments of the Loʀᴅ your God, which I charge you today, to 1Lit keep and doobserve them carefully, 14 and ADeut 5:32; Josh 1:7do not turn aside from any of the words which I command you today, to the right or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

38 “AIs 5:10; Mic 6:15; Hag 1:6You shall bring out much seed to the field but you will gather in little, for BEx 10:4; Joel 1:4the locust will consume it. 39  “AIs 5:10; 17:10, 11You shall plant and cultivate vineyards, but you will neither drink of the wine nor gather the grapes, for the worm will devour them. 40  “AJer 11:16; Mic 6:15You shall have olive trees throughout your territory but you will not anoint yourself with the oil, for your olives will drop off. 41  “ADeut 28:32You shall 1Lit begethave sons and daughters but they will not be yours, for they will go into captivity. 42  “ADeut 28:38The cricket shall possess all your trees and the produce of your ground. 43  “ADeut 28:13The alien who is among you shall rise above you higher and higher, but you will go down lower and lower. 44  “ADeut 28:12He shall lend to you, but you will not lend to him; BDeut 28:13he shall be the head, and you will be the tail.

45 “So all these curses shall come on you and pursue you and overtake you ADeut 4:25, 26until you are destroyed, because you would not 1Lit listen to the voice ofobey the Loʀᴅ your God by keeping His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you. 46  “They shall become ANum 26:10; Is 8:18; Ezek 5:15; 14:8a sign and a wonder on you and your 1Lit seeddescendants forever.

47 “ADeut 12:7; Neh 9:35-37Because you did not serve the Loʀᴅ your God with joy and a glad heart, for the abundance of all things; 48 therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the Loʀᴅ will send against you, ALam 4:4-6in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in the lack of all things; and He BJer 28:13, 14will put an iron yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you.

58 “If you are not careful to observe all the words of this law which are written in this book, to 1Or reverenceAPs 99:3; Mal 1:14fear this honored and awesome BIs 42:8name, 2Heb YHWHthe Loʀᴅ your God, 59 then the Loʀᴅ will bring extraordinary plagues on you and 1Lit plague on your seedyour descendants, even 2Lit greatsevere and lasting plagues, and miserable and chronic sicknesses. 60  “ADeut 28:27He will bring back on you all the diseases of Egypt of which you were afraid, and they will cling to you. 61  “Also every sickness and every plague which, not written in the book of this law, the Loʀᴅ will bring on you ADeut 4:25, 26until you are destroyed. 62  “Then you shall be left few in number, ADeut 1:10; Neh 9:23whereas you were as numerous as the stars of heaven, because you did not 1Lit listen to the voice ofobey the Loʀᴅ your God. 63  “It shall come about that as the Loʀᴅ AJer 32:41delighted over you to prosper you, and multiply you, so the Loʀᴅ will BProv 1:26delight over you to make you perish and destroy you; and you will be CJer 12:14; 45:4torn from the land where you are entering to possess it. 64  “Moreover, the Loʀᴅ will ALev 26:33; Deut 4:27; Neh 1:8scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other end of the earth; and there you shall BDeut 4:28; 29:26; 32:17serve other gods, wood and stone, which you or your fathers have not known. 65  “ALam 1:3Among those nations you shall find no rest, and there will be no resting place for the sole of your foot; but there BLev 26:36the Loʀᴅ will give you a trembling heart, failing of eyes, and despair of soul. 66  “So your life shall 1Lit be hung for you in fronthang in doubt before you; and you will be in dread night and day, and shall have no assurance of your life. 67  “AJob 7:4In the morning you shall say, ‘Would that it were evening!’ And at evening you shall say, ‘Would that it were morning!’ because of the dread of your heart which you dread, and for the sight of your eyes which you will see. 68  “The Loʀᴅ will bring you back to Egypt in ships, by the way about which I spoke to you, ‘You will never see it again!’ And there you will offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as male and female slaves, but there will be no buyer.”
