1 This is the message which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to AJer 32:12, 16; 43:3, 6Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had BJer 36:4, 18, 32written down these words in a book 1Lit from the mouth of Jeremiahat Jeremiah’s dictation, in the C2 Kin 24:1; 2 Chr 36:5-7; Jer 25:1; 36:1; 46:2; Dan 1:1fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying: 2 “Thus says the Loʀᴅ the God of Israel to you, O Baruch: 3 ‘You said, “Ah, woe is me! For the Loʀᴅ has added sorrow to my pain; I am APs 6:6; 69:3; 2 Cor 4:1, 16; Gal 6:9weary with my groaning and have found no rest.” ’ 4  “Thus you are to say to him, ‘Thus says the Loʀᴅ, “Behold, AIs 5:5; Jer 1:10; 11:17; 18:7-10; 31:28what I have built I am about to tear down, and what I have planted I am about to uproot, that is, the whole land.” 5  ‘But you, are you A1 Kin 3:9, 11; 2 Kin 5:26; Matt 6:25, 32; Rom 12:16seeking great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for behold, I am going to BIs 66:16; Jer 25:31bring disaster on all flesh,’ declares the Loʀᴅ, ‘but I will CJer 21:9; 38:2; 39:18give your life to you as booty in all the places where you may go.’ ”
