A Cry of Distress and Imprecation on Adversaries.
For the choir director; according to AOr possibly LiliesShoshannim. A Psalm of David.
Save me, O God,
For the AJob 22:11; Ps 32:6; 42:7; 69:14, 15; Jon 2:5waters have 1Lit come to the soulthreatened my life.
I have sunk in deep APs 40:2mire, and there is no foothold;
I have come into deep waters, and a 1Lit flowing streamBJon 2:3flood overflows me.
I am APs 6:6weary with my crying; my throat is parched;
My BDeut 28:32; Ps 38:10; 119:82, 123; Is 38:14eyes fail while I wait for my God.
Those APs 35:19; John 15:25who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head;
Those who would 1Or silencedestroy me BPs 35:19; 38:19; 59:3are powerful, being wrongfully my enemies;
CPs 35:11; Jer 15:10What I did not steal, I then have to restore.

O God, it is You who knows APs 38:5my folly,
And BPs 44:21my wrongs are not hidden from You.
May those who wait for You not A2 Sam 12:14be ashamed through me, O Lord 1Heb YHWH, usually rendered LoʀᴅGoᴅ of hosts;
May those who seek You not be dishonored through me, O God of Israel,
Because AJer 15:15for Your sake I have borne reproach;
BPs 44:15; Is 50:6; Jer 51:51Dishonor has covered my face.
I have become AJob 19:13-15; Ps 31:11; 38:11estranged 1Lit tofrom my brothers
And an alien to my mother’s sons.
For APs 119:139; John 2:17zeal for Your house has consumed me,
And BPs 89:41, 50; Rom 15:3the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.
10 When I wept APs 35:13in my soul with fasting,
It became my reproach.
11 When I made A1 Kin 20:31; Ps 35:13sackcloth my clothing,
I became B1 Kin 9:7; Job 17:6; Ps 44:14; Jer 24:9a byword to them.
12 Those who AGen 19:1; Ruth 4:1sit in the gate talk about me,
And I am the 1Lit songsBJob 30:9song of the drunkards.

13 But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Loʀᴅ, APs 32:6; Is 49:8; 2 Cor 6:2at an acceptable time;
O God, in the BPs 51:1greatness of Your lovingkindness,
Answer me with 1Or the faithfulness of Your salvationYour saving truth.
14 Deliver me from the APs 69:2mire and do not let me sink;
May I be BPs 144:7delivered from 1Lit those who hate memy foes and from the 2Lit deep places of waterAPs 69:2deep waters.
15 May the 1Lit streamAPs 124:4, 5flood of water not overflow me
Nor the deep swallow me up,
Nor the BNum 16:33; Ps 28:1; 141:7pit shut its mouth on me.

16 Answer me, O Loʀᴅ, for APs 63:3; 109:21Your lovingkindness is good;
BPs 51:1; 106:45According to the greatness of Your compassion, CPs 25:16; 86:16turn to me,
17 And APs 27:9; 102:2; 143:7do not hide Your face from Your servant,
For I am BPs 31:9; 66:14in distress; answer me quickly.
18 Oh draw near to my soul and A2 Sam 4:9; Ps 26:11; 49:15redeem it;
BPs 119:134Ransom me because of my enemies!
19 You know my APs 22:6; 31:11reproach and my shame and my dishonor;
All my adversaries are 1Or known to Youbefore You.

20 Reproach has AJer 23:9broken my heart and I am so sick.
And BPs 142:4; Is 63:5I looked for sympathy, but there was none,
And for CJob 16:2comforters, but I found none.
21 They also gave me 1Or poisonADeut 29:18gall 2Or infor my food
And for my thirst they BMatt 27:34, 48; Mark 15:23, 36; Luke 23:36; John 19:28-30gave me vinegar to drink.

22 May ARom 11:9, 10their table before them become a snare;
And 1Lit for those who are secureB1 Thess 5:3when they are in peace, may it become a trap.
23 May their AIs 6:10eyes grow dim so that they cannot see,
And make their BDan 5:6loins shake continually.
24 APs 79:6; Jer 10:25; Ezek 20:8; Hos 5:10Pour out Your indignation on them,
And may Your burning anger overtake them.
25 May their 1Lit encampmentAMatt 23:38; Luke 13:35; Acts 1:20camp be desolate;
May none dwell in their tents.
26 For they have A2 Chr 28:9; Zech 1:15persecuted him whom BIs 53:4You Yourself have smitten,
And they tell of the pain of those whom CPs 109:22You have 1Lit piercedwounded.
27 Add ANeh 4:5; Ps 109:14; Rom 1:28iniquity to their iniquity,
And BIs 26:10may they not come into CPs 103:17Your righteousness.
28 May they be AEx 32:32, 33; Rev 3:5blotted out of the BPhil 4:3; Rev 13:8; 17:8; 20:15book of life
And may they not be 1Lit writtenCPs 87:6; Ezek 13:9; Luke 10:20; Heb 12:23recorded with the righteous.

29 But I am APs 70:5afflicted and in pain;
1Or Your salvation, O God, will set...May Your salvation, O God, BPs 20:1; 59:1set me securely on high.
30 I will APs 28:7praise the name of God with song
And BPs 34:3magnify Him with CPs 50:14thanksgiving.
31 And it will APs 50:13, 14; 51:16please the Loʀᴅ better than an ox
Or a young bull with horns and hoofs.

You who seek God, BPs 22:26let your heart 2Or liverevive.
33 For APs 12:5the Loʀᴅ hears the needy
And BPs 68:6does not despise His who are prisoners.

34 Let APs 96:11; 98:7; 148:1-13; Is 44:23; 49:13heaven and earth praise Him,
The seas and BIs 55:12everything that moves in them.
