A Psalm of Complaint and of Praise.
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
1 APs 31:1-3; 71:1-3In You, O Loʀᴅ, I have taken refuge;
Let me never BPs 25:2be ashamed;
CPs 143:1In Your righteousness deliver me.
2 APs 17:6; 71:2; 86:1; 102:2Incline Your ear to me, rescue me quickly;
Be to me a BPs 18:2; 71:3rock of 1Or refuge, protectionstrength,
A stronghold to save me.
For BPs 23:3; 25:11Your name’s sake You will lead me and guide me.
4 You will APs 25:15pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me,
For You are my BPs 46:1strength.
5 ALuke 23:46; Acts 7:59Into Your hand I commit my spirit;
But I BPs 52:8trust in the Loʀᴅ.
7 I will APs 90:14rejoice and be glad in Your lovingkindness,
Because You have BPs 10:14seen my affliction;
You have known the troubles of my soul,
8 And You have not ADeut 32:30; Ps 37:33given me over into the hand of the enemy;
You have set my feet in a large place.
9 Be gracious to me, O Loʀᴅ, for APs 66:14; 69:17I am in distress;
10 For my life is spent with APs 13:2sorrow
And my years with sighing;
My BPs 39:11strength has failed because of my iniquity,
And CPs 32:3; 38:3; 102:3my 1Or bones, substancebody has wasted away.
11 Because of all my adversaries, I have become a APs 69:19reproach,
Especially to my BJob 19:13; Ps 38:11; 88:8, 18neighbors,
And an object of dread to my acquaintances;
Those who see me in the street flee from me.
12 I am APs 88:5forgotten as a dead man, out of mind;
I am like a broken vessel.
BLam 2:22Terror is on every side;
While they CPs 62:4; Matt 27:1took counsel together against me,
They DPs 41:7schemed to take away my life.
14 But as for me, I trust in You, O Loʀᴅ,
I say, “APs 140:6You are my God.”
15 My AJob 14:5; 24:1times are in Your hand;
BPs 143:9Deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who persecute me.
16 Make Your ANum 6:25; Ps 4:6; 80:3face to shine upon Your servant;
BPs 6:4Save me in Your lovingkindness.
17 Let me not be APs 25:2, 20put to shame, O Loʀᴅ, for I call upon You;
Let the BPs 25:3wicked be put to shame, let them C1 Sam 2:9; Ps 94:17; 115:17be silent in 1I.e. the nether worldSheol.
18 Let the APs 109:2; 120:2lying lips be mute,
Which B1 Sam 2:3; Ps 94:4; Jude 15speak arrogantly against the righteous
With pride and contempt.
19 How great is Your APs 65:4; 145:7; Is 64:4; Rom 2:4; 11:22goodness,
Which You have stored up for those who fear You,
Which You have wrought for those who BPs 5:11take refuge in You,
CPs 23:5Before the sons of men!
20 You hide them in the APs 27:5secret place of Your presence from the BPs 37:12conspiracies of man;
You keep them secretly in a 1Or pavilionshelter from the CJob 5:21; Ps 31:13strife of tongues.
21 APs 28:6Blessed be the Loʀᴅ,
For He has made BPs 17:7marvelous His lovingkindness to me in a besieged C1 Sam 23:7; Ps 87:5city.
22 As for me, APs 116:11I said in my alarm,
“I am BPs 88:5; Is 38:11, 12; Lam 3:54cut off from before Your eyes”;
Nevertheless You CPs 18:6; 66:19; 145:19heard the voice of my supplications
When I cried to You.
23 O love the Loʀᴅ, all you APs 30:4; 37:28; 50:5His godly ones!
The Loʀᴅ BPs 145:20; Rev 2:10preserves the faithful
And fully CDeut 32:41; Ps 94:2recompenses the proud doer.
24 APs 27:14Be strong and let your heart take courage,
All you who 1Or wait forhope in the Loʀᴅ.
