Prayer of a Suffering Penitent.
A Psalm of David, for a memorial.
1 O Loʀᴅ, APs 6:1rebuke me not in Your wrath,
And chasten me not in Your burning anger.
2 For Your AJob 6:4arrows have sunk deep into me,
And BPs 32:4Your hand has pressed down on me.
There is no health CJob 33:19; Ps 6:2; 31:10in my bones because of my sin.
4 For my AEzra 9:6; Ps 40:12iniquities are gone over my head;
As a heavy burden they weigh too much for me.
Because of APs 69:5my folly.
6 I am bent over and APs 35:14greatly bowed down;
I BJob 30:28; Ps 42:9; 43:2go mourning all day long.
7 For my loins are filled with APs 102:3burning,
And there is BPs 38:3no soundness in my flesh.
And my BPs 6:6; 102:5sighing is not hidden from You.
10 My heart throbs, APs 31:10my strength fails me;
And the BPs 6:7; 69:3; 88:9light of my eyes, even 1Lit they havethat 2Lit is not with mehas gone from me.
And my kinsmen BLuke 23:49stand afar off.
And those who CPs 35:4seek to injure me have 1Lit spokenthreatened destruction,
And they DPs 35:20devise treachery all day long.
13 But I, like a deaf man, do not hear;
And I am like a APs 39:2, 9mute man who does not open his mouth.
14 Yes, I am like a man who does not hear,
And in whose mouth are no arguments.
You BPs 17:6will answer, O Lord my God.
16 For I said, “May they not rejoice over me,
Who, when my foot slips, APs 35:26would magnify themselves against me.”
17 For I am APs 35:15ready to fall,
I am full of B2 Cor 7:9, 10anxiety because of my sin.
And many are those who BPs 35:19hate me wrongfully.
20 And those who APs 35:12repay evil for good,
They BPs 109:5; 1 John 3:12oppose me, because I follow what is good.
21 Do not forsake me, O Loʀᴅ;
O my God, APs 22:19; 35:22do not be far from me!
22 Make APs 40:13, 17haste to help me,
O Lord, BPs 27:1my salvation!
