1 Then I saw ARev 10:1an angel coming down from heaven, holding the BRev 1:18; 9:1key of the abyss and a great chain 1Lit uponin his hand. 2 And he laid hold of the AGen 3:1; Rev 12:9dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and BIs 24:22; 2 Pet 2:4; Jude 6bound him for a thousand years; 3 and he threw him into the ARev 20:1abyss, and shut it and BDan 6:17; Matt 27:66sealed it over him, so that he would CRev 12:9; 20:8, 10not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time.

4 Then I saw ADan 7:9thrones, and BMatt 19:28; Rev 3:21they sat on them, and CDan 7:22; 1 Cor 6:2judgment was given to them. And I saw DRev 6:9the souls of those who had been beheaded because of 1Lit thetheir ERev 1:9testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not FRev 13:12, 15worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the GRev 13:16fmark on their forehead and on their hand; and they HJohn 14:19came to life and IRev 3:21; 5:10; 20:6; 22:5reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. ALuke 14:14; Phil 3:11; 1 Thess 4:16This is the first resurrection. 6 ARev 14:13Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the BRev 2:11; 20:14second death has no power, but they will be CRev 1:6priests of God and of Christ and will DRev 3:21; 5:10; 20:4; 22:5reign with Him for a thousand years.

7 When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be ARev 20:2freleased from his prison, 8 and will come out to ARev 12:9; 20:3, 10deceive the nations which are in the BEzek 7:2; Rev 7:1four corners of the earth, CEzek 38:2; 39:1, 6Gog and Magog, to DRev 16:14gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the EHeb 11:12sand of the 1Lit seaseashore. 9 And they AEzek 38:9, 16came up on the 1Lit breadth of the earthbroad plain of the earth and surrounded the BDeut 23:14camp of the 2Or holy onessaints and the CPs 87:2beloved city, and DEzek 38:22; 39:6; Rev 13:13fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10 And ARev 20:2fthe devil who ARev 20:2fdeceived them was thrown into the BRev 19:20; 20:14, 15lake of fire and 1I.e. burning sulphurbrimstone, where the CRev 16:13beast and the CRev 16:13false prophet are also; and they will be DRev 14:10ftormented day and night forever and ever.

11 Then I saw a great white ARev 4:2throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose 1Lit facepresence BRev 6:14; 21:1earth and heaven fled away, and CDan 2:35; Rev 12:8no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, the ARev 11:18great and the small, standing before the throne, and 1Or scrollsBDan 7:10books were opened; and another 2Or scrollbook was opened, which is CRev 3:5; 20:15the book of life; and the dead ARev 11:18were judged from the things which were written in the 1Or scrollsbooks, DMatt 16:27; Rev 2:23; 20:13according to their deeds. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and A1 Cor 15:26; Rev 1:18; 6:8; 21:4death and Hades BIs 26:19gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them CMatt 16:27; Rev 2:23; 20:12according to their deeds. 14 Then A1 Cor 15:26; Rev 1:18; 6:8; 21:4death and Hades were thrown into BRev 19:20; 20:10, 15the lake of fire. This is the CRev 20:6second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if 1Lit anyone wasanyone’s name was not found written in ARev 3:5; 20:12the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
