1 A great AMatt 24:30; Rev 12:3sign appeared BRev 11:19in heaven: CGal 4:26a woman DPs 104:2; Song 6:10clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; 2 and she was with child; and she *AIs 26:17; 66:6-9; Mic 4:9fcried out, being in labor and in pain to give birth.

3 Then ARev 12:1; 15:1another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red BIs 27:1; Rev 12:4, 7, 9, 13, 16f; 13:2, 4, 11; 16:13; 20:2dragon having CRev 13:1; 17:3, 7, 9ffseven heads and DDan 7:7, 20, 24; Rev 13:1; 17:12, 16ten horns, and on his heads were ERev 13:1; 19:12seven diadems. 4 And his tail *swept away a ARev 8:7, 12third of the stars of heaven and BDan 8:10threw them to the earth. And the CIs 27:1; Rev 12:3, 7, 9, 13, 16f; 13:2, 4, 11; 16:13; 20:2dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth DMatt 2:16he might devour her child.

5 And AIs 66:7she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to 1Or shepherdBPs 2:9; Rev 2:27rule all the 2Or Gentilesnations with a rod of iron; and her child was C2 Cor 12:2ffcaught up to God and to His throne. 6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she *had a place prepared by God, so that there 1Lit they would nourish her forshe would be nourished for ARev 11:3; 13:5one thousand two hundred and sixty days.

7 And there was war in heaven, ADan 10:13, 21; 12:1; Jude 9Michael and his angels waging war with the BRev 12:3dragon. The dragon and CMatt 25:41his angels waged war, 8 and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven. 9 And the great ARev 12:3dragon was thrown down, the BGen 3:1; 2 Cor 11:3; Rev 12:15; 20:2serpent of old who is called the devil and CMatt 4:10; 25:41Satan, who DRev 13:14; 20:3, 8, 10deceives the whole 1Lit inhabited earthworld; he was ELuke 10:18; John 12:31thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 10 Then I heard ARev 11:15a loud voice in heaven, saying,

13 And when the ARev 12:3dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted BRev 12:5the woman who gave birth to the male child. 14 But the AEx 19:4; Deut 32:11; Is 40:31two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly BRev 12:6into the wilderness to her place, where she *was nourished for CDan 7:25; 12:7a time and times and half a time, from the 1Lit facepresence of the serpent. 15 And the AGen 3:1; 2 Cor 11:3; Rev 12:9; 20:2serpent 1Lit threwpoured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, so that he might cause her to be swept away with the flood. 16 1Lit AndBut the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and drank up the river which the dragon 2Lit threwpoured out of his mouth. 17 So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to ARev 11:7; 13:7make war with the rest of her 1Lit seedBGen 3:15children, who C1 John 2:3; Rev 14:12keep the commandments of God and DRev 1:2; 6:9; 14:12; 19:10hold to the testimony of Jesus.
