Judgments on Judah’s Enemies
Gather yourselves together, yes, A2 Chr 20:4; Joel 1:14gather,
O nation BJer 3:3; 6:15without 1Or longingshame,
Before the decree 1Lit is borntakes effect—
The day passes AIs 17:13; Hos 13:3like the chaff—
Before the BLam 4:11; Nah 1:6burning anger of the Loʀᴅ comes upon you,
Before the CZeph 1:18day of the Loʀᴅ’s anger comes upon you.
APs 105:4; Amos 5:6Seek the Loʀᴅ,
All you BPs 22:26; Is 11:4humble of the 1Or landearth
Who have carried out His 2Or justiceordinances;
CAmos 5:14, 15Seek righteousness, seek humility.
Perhaps you will be DPs 57:1; Is 26:20hidden
In the day of the Loʀᴅ’s anger.

For AAmos 1:7, 8; Zech 9:5-7Gaza will be abandoned
And Ashkelon a desolation;
AAmos 1:7, 8; Zech 9:5-7Ashdod will be driven out at noon
And AAmos 1:7, 8; Zech 9:5-7Ekron will be uprooted.
Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast,
The nation of the 1I.e. a segment of the Philistines with roots in CreteAEzek 25:16Cherethites!
The word of the Loʀᴅ is BAmos 3:1against you,
O CZeph 1:11Canaan, land of the Philistines;
And I will DIs 14:29, 30destroy you
So that there will be EZeph 3:6no inhabitant.
So the seacoast will be AIs 5:17; 7:25pastures,
With 1Or meadows or wellscaves for shepherds and folds for flocks.
And the coast will be
For the AIs 11:16remnant of the house of Judah,
They will BIs 32:14pasture on it.
In the houses of Ashkelon they will lie down at evening;
For the Loʀᴅ their God will CEx 4:31; Ps 80:14care for them
And DJer 32:44; Zeph 3:20restore their fortune.

“I have heard the 1Lit reproachAEzek 25:8taunting of Moab
And the BEzek 25:3revilings of the sons of Ammon,
With which they have 2Lit reproachedtaunted My people
And 3Lit made themselves greatCAmos 1:13become arrogant against their territory.
“Therefore, as I live,” declares the Loʀᴅ of hosts,
The God of Israel,
“Surely AIs 15:1-9; Jer 48:1-47; Amos 2:1-3Moab will be like BGen 19:24Sodom
And the sons of CJer 49:1-6; Ezek 25:1-10Ammon like DDeut 29:23Gomorrah—
A place possessed by nettles and salt pits,
And a perpetual desolation.
The remnant of My people will EIs 11:14plunder them
And the remainder of My nation will inherit them.”
10 This they will have in return for their AIs 16:6pride, because they have 1Lit reproachedBZeph 2:8taunted and 2Lit made themselves greatbecome arrogant against the people of the Loʀᴅ of hosts. 11 The Loʀᴅ will be AJoel 2:11terrifying to them, for He will 1Lit make leanstarve BZeph 1:4all the gods of the earth; and all the CIs 24:15coastlands of the nations will DPs 72:8-11; Zeph 3:9bow down to Him, everyone from his own place.

12 “You also, O AIs 18:1-7; 20:4, 5; Ezek 30:4-9Ethiopians, will be slain by My sword.”
13 And He will AIs 14:26; Zeph 1:4stretch out His hand against the north
And destroy BIs 10:16; Mic 5:6Assyria,
And He will make CNah 3:7Nineveh a desolation,
Parched like the wilderness.
14 Flocks will lie down in her midst,
1Or All kinds of beasts in crowds; lit Every kind of beast of a nationAll beasts which range in herds;
Both the 2Or owl or jackdawAIs 14:23; 34:11pelican and the hedgehog
Will lodge in 3Lit her capitalsthe tops of her pillars;
4Lit A voiceBirds will sing in the window,
Desolation will be on the threshold;
For He has laid bare the cedar work.
15 This is the AIs 22:2exultant city
Which BIs 32:9, 11; 47:8dwells securely,
Who says in her heart,
CIs 47:8; Ezek 28:2, 9I am, and there is no one besides me.”
How she has become a DIs 32:14desolation,
A resting place for beasts!
EJer 18:16; 19:8Everyone who passes by her will hiss
And wave his hand in contempt.
