1 And it came about in the days of Amraphel king of AGen 10:10; 11:2Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of BGen 10:22; Is 11:11; Dan 8:2Elam, and Tidal king of 1Or nationsGoiim, 2 that they made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of AGen 10:19Admah, and Shemeber king of BDeut 29:23Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, CGen 13:10; 19:22Zoar). 3 All these 1Lit joined togethercame as allies to AGen 14:8, 10the valley of Siddim (that is, BNum 34:12; Deut 3:17; Josh 3:16the Salt Sea). 4 Twelve years they had served Chedorlaomer, but the thirteenth year they rebelled. 5 In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him, came and 1Lit smotedefeated the ADeut 3:11, 13Rephaim in BDeut 1:4; Josh 9:10Ashteroth-karnaim and the Zuzim in Ham and the Emim in 2Or the plain of KiriathaimCNum 32:37Shaveh-kiriathaim, 6 and the AGen 36:20; Deut 2:12, 22Horites in their Mount Seir, as far as BGen 21:21; Num 10:12El-paran, which is by the wilderness. 7 Then they turned back and came to En-mishpat (that is, ANum 13:26Kadesh), and 1Lit smoteconquered all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, who lived in B2 Chr 20:2Hazazon-tamar. 8 And the king of Sodom and the king of Gomorrah and the king of Admah and the king of Zeboiim and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) came out; and they arrayed for battle against them in AGen 14:3the valley of Siddim, 9 against Chedorlaomer king of Elam and Tidal king of 1Or nationsGoiim and Amraphel king of Shinar and Arioch king of Ellasar—four kings against five. 10 Now the valley of Siddim was full of tar pits; and AGen 14:17, 21, 22the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and they fell 1Lit thereinto them. But those who survived fled to the BGen 19:17hill country. 11 Then they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food supply, and departed. 12 They also took Lot, AGen 11:27Abram’s nephew, and his possessions and departed, BGen 13:12for he was living in Sodom.
