A Prayer for Mercy
Remember, O Loʀᴅ, what has befallen us;
Look, and see our APs 44:13-16reproach!
Our inheritance has been turned over to AIs 1:7; Hos 8:7, 8strangers,
Our BZeph 1:13houses to aliens.
We have become orphans AEx 22:24; Jer 15:8; 18:21without a father,
Our mothers are like widows.
1Lit We drink our water for silverWe have to pay for our drinking AIs 3:1water,
Our wood comes to us at a price.
1Lit We have been pursued uponOur pursuers are at our necks;
We are worn out, there is ANeh 9:36, 37no rest for us.
We have 1Lit given the hand tosubmitted to AHos 9:3; 12:1Egypt and Assyria 2Lit to be satisfied withto get enough bread.
Our AJer 14:20; 16:12fathers sinned, and are no more;
It is we who have borne their iniquities.
ANeh 5:15Slaves rule over us;
There is BPs 7:2; Zech 11:6no one to deliver us from their hand.
We get our bread 1Lit with our soulat the AJer 40:9-12risk of our lives

And youths BJer 7:18stumbled under loads of wood.
14 Elders 1Lit have ceasedare gone from the gate,
Young men from their AIs 24:8; Jer 7:34music.
15 The joy of our hearts has AJer 25:10; Amos 8:10ceased;
Our dancing has been turned into mourning.
16 The AJob 19:9; Ps 89:39; Jer 13:18crown has fallen from our head;
BIs 3:9-11Woe to us, for we have sinned!
17 Because of this our AIs 1:5heart is faint,
Because of these things our BJob 17:7; Lam 2:11eyes are dim;
18 Because of AMic 3:12Mount Zion which lies desolate,

21 APs 80:3; Jer 31:18Restore us to You, O Loʀᴅ, that we may be restored;
