1 Then He said to me, “Son of man, ADan 10:11; Acts 9:6stand on your feet that I may speak with you!” 2 As He spoke to me the AEzek 3:24; Dan 8:18Spirit entered me and set me on my feet; and I heard Him speaking to me. 3 Then He said to me, “Son of man, I am sending you to the sons of Israel, to a rebellious people who have A1 Sam 8:7, 8; Jer 3:25rebelled against Me; BEzek 20:18, 30they and their fathers have transgressed against Me to this very day. 4  “I am sending you to them who are 1Lit the sons, stiff-faced and hard-heartedAPs 95:8; Is 48:4; Jer 5:3; 6:15; Ezek 3:7stubborn and obstinate children, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord 2Heb YHWH, usually rendered LoʀᴅGoᴅ.’ 5  “As for them, AEzek 2:7; 3:11, 27; Matt 10:12-15; Acts 13:46whether they listen or 1Lit forbearnot—for they are a rebellious house—they will BEzek 33:33; Luke 10:10, 11; John 15:22know that a prophet has been among them. 6  “And you, son of man, AIs 51:12; Jer 1:8, 17; Ezek 3:9neither fear them nor fear their words, though B2 Sam 23:6, 7; Ezek 28:24; Mic 7:4thistles and thorns are with you and you sit on scorpions; neither fear their words nor be dismayed at their presence, for they are a rebellious house. 7  “But you shall AJer 1:7, 17; Ezek 3:10, 17speak My words to them BEzek 2:5whether they listen or 1Lit forbearnot, for they are rebellious.

8 “Now you, son of man, listen to what I am speaking to you; do not be rebellious like that rebellious house. Open your mouth and AJer 15:16; Ezek 3:3; Rev 10:9eat what I am giving you.” 9 Then I looked, and behold, a AEzek 8:3hand was extended to me; and lo, a 1Lit scroll of a bookBJer 36:2; Ezek 3:1; Rev 5:1-5; 10:8-11scroll was in it. 10 When He spread it out before me, it was written on the front and back, and written on it were lamentations, mourning and AIs 3:11; Rev 8:13woe.
