Jesus Our High Priest
1 Therefore, AActs 1:15; Heb 2:11; 3:12; 10:19; 13:22holy brethren, partakers of a BPhil 3:14heavenly calling, consider Jesus, CJohn 17:3the Apostle and DHeb 2:17; 4:14f; 5:5, 10; 6:20; 7:26, 28; 8:1, 3; 9:11; 10:21High Priest of our E2 Cor 9:13; Heb 4:14; 10:23confession; 2 1Lit Being faithfulHe was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as AEx 40:16; Num 12:7; Heb 3:5Moses also was in all His house. 3 A2 Cor 3:7-11For He has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house. 4 For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God. 5 Now AEx 40:16; Num 12:7; Heb 3:2Moses was faithful in all His house as BEx 14:31; Num 12:7a servant, CDeut 18:18ffor a testimony of those things DHeb 1:1which were to be spoken later; 6 but Christ was faithful as AHeb 1:2a Son over His house—B1 Cor 3:16; 1 Tim 3:15whose house we are, CRom 11:22; Heb 3:14; 4:14if we hold fast our DEph 3:12; Heb 4:16; 10:19, 35confidence and the boast of our EHeb 6:11; 7:19; 10:23; 11:1; 1 Pet 1:3hope firm until the end.

The Peril of Unbelief
12 ACol 2:8; Heb 12:25Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart 1Lit in fallingthat falls away from BMatt 16:16; Heb 9:14; 10:31; 12:22the living God. 13 But AHeb 10:24fencourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the BEph 4:22deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ, AHeb 3:6if we hold fast the beginning of our BHeb 11:1assurance firm until the end, 15 while it is said,

16 For who AJer 32:29; 44:3, 8provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, BNum 14:2, 11, 30; Deut 1:35, 36, 38did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? 17 And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, ANum 14:29; 1 Cor 10:5whose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did He swear ANum 14:23; Deut 1:34f; Heb 4:2that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were BRom 11:30-32; Heb 4:6, 11disobedient? 19 So we see that they were not able to enter because of AJohn 3:18, 36; Rom 11:23; Heb 3:12unbelief.
