Elihu Says God Is Back of the Storm
“At this also my heart trembles,
And leaps from its place.
“Listen closely to the AJob 36:33; 37:4, 5; Ps 29:3-9thunder of His voice,
And the rumbling that goes out from His mouth.
“Under the whole heaven He lets it loose,
And His 1Lit lightlightning to the AJob 28:24; 37:11, 12; 38:13ends of the earth.
“After it, a voice roars;
He thunders with His majestic voice,
And He does not restrain 1Lit themthe lightnings when His voice is heard.
“God AJob 26:14thunders with His voice wondrously,
Doing BJob 5:9; 37:14, 16, 23great things which we cannot comprehend.
“For to AJob 38:22the snow He says, ‘Fall on the earth,’
And to the 1Lit shower of rain and shower of rainsBJob 36:27downpour and the rain, ‘Be strong.’
“He AJob 12:14seals the hand of every man,
That BPs 111:2all men may know His work.
“Then the beast goes into its AJob 38:40; Ps 104:21, 22lair
And remains in its 1Lit densden.
“Out of the 1Lit chamberAJob 9:9south comes the storm,
And out of the 2Lit scattering windsnorth the cold.
10 “From the breath of God AJob 38:29; Ps 147:17ice is made,
And the expanse of the waters is frozen.
11 “Also with moisture He AJob 36:27loads the thick cloud;
He BJob 36:29disperses CJob 37:15the cloud of His 1Lit lightlightning.
12 “It changes direction, turning around by His guidance,
That 1Lit theyit may do whatever He AJob 36:32; Ps 148:8commands 2Lit themit
On the BIs 14:21; 27:6face of the inhabited earth.
13 “Whether for 1Lit the rodAEx 9:18, 23; 1 Sam 12:18, 19correction, or for BJob 38:26, 27His world,
Or for C1 Kin 18:41-46lovingkindness, He causes it to 2Lit be foundhappen.

14 “Listen to this, O Job,
Stand and consider the wonders of God.
15 “Do you know how God establishes them,
And makes the 1Lit lightlightning of His cloud to shine?
16 “Do you know about the layers of the thick clouds,
The AJob 37:5, 14, 23wonders of one BJob 36:4perfect in knowledge,
17 You whose garments are hot,
When the land is still because of the south wind?
18 “Can you, with Him, AJob 9:8; Ps 104:2; Is 44:24; 45:12; Jer 10:12; Zech 12:1spread out the skies,
Strong as a molten mirror?
19 “Teach us what we shall say to Him;
We AJob 9:14; Rom 8:26cannot arrange our case because of darkness.
20 “Shall it be told Him that I would speak?
1Or If a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed upOr should a man say that he would be swallowed up?

21 “Now 1Lit theymen do not see the light which is bright in the skies;
But the wind has passed and cleared them.
22 “Out of the north comes golden splendor;
Around God is awesome majesty.
23 “The Almighty—AJob 11:7, 8; Rom 11:33; 1 Tim 6:16we cannot find Him;
He is BJob 9:4; 36:5exalted in power
And CIs 63:9; Lam 3:33; Ezek 18:23, 32; 33:11He will not do violence DJob 8:3to justice and abundant righteousness.
24 “Therefore men AMatt 10:28fear Him;
He does not BJob 5:13; Matt 11:25; 1 Cor 1:26regard any who are wise of heart.”
