1 Then AZech 1:9the angel who was speaking with me returned and B1 Kin 19:5-7; Jer 31:26roused me, as a man who is awakened from his sleep. 2 He said to me, “AJer 1:13; Zech 5:2What do you see?” And I said, “I see, and behold, a BEx 25:31, 37; Jer 52:19lampstand all of gold with its bowl on the top of it, and its CRev 4:5seven lamps on it with seven spouts belonging to each of the lamps which are on the top of it; 3 also AZech 4:11; Rev 11:4two olive trees by it, one on the right side of the bowl and the other on its left side.” 4 Then I said to the angel who was speaking with me saying, “What are these, AZech 1:9; 4:5, 13; 6:4my lord?” 5 So AZech 1:9; 4:1the angel who was speaking with me answered and said to me, “BZech 4:13Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.” 6 Then he 1Lit said to me, sayingsaid to me, “This is the word of the Loʀᴅ to AEzra 5:2; Hag 2:4, 5Zerubbabel saying, ‘BIs 11:2-4; 30:1; Hos 1:7Not by might nor by power, but by My C2 Chr 32:7, 8; Eph 6:17Spirit,’ says the Loʀᴅ of hosts. 7 ‘What are you, O great APs 114:4, 6; Is 40:4; Jer 51:25; Nah 1:5; Zech 14:4, 5mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain; and he will bring forth the top stone with BEzra 3:10, 11; Ps 84:11shouts of “Grace, grace to it!” ’ ”

8 Also the word of the Loʀᴅ came to me, saying, 9 “The hands of Zerubbabel have AEzra 3:8-10; 5:16; Hag 2:18laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will BEzra 6:14, 15; Zech 6:12, 13finish it. Then you will know that the Loʀᴅ of hosts has sent me to 1Lit you (plural)you. 10  “For who has despised the day of ANeh 4:2-4; Amos 7:2, 5; Hag 2:3small things? 1Or But they will rejoice when they see...Zerubbabel. These seven are the eyes of the LoʀᴅBut these BZech 3:9; Rev 8:2seven will be glad when they see the 2Lit plummet stoneCAmos 7:7, 8plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel—these are the D2 Chr 16:9; Prov 15:3; Jer 16:17eyes of the Loʀᴅ which EZech 1:10; Rev 5:6range to and fro throughout the earth.”

11 Then I said to him, “What are these AZech 4:3; Rev 11:4two olive trees on the right of the lampstand and on its left?” 12 And I answered the second time and said to him, “What are the two olive 1Or clustersbranches which are beside the two golden pipes, which empty the golden oil from themselves?” 13 So he answered me, saying, “AZech 4:5Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, BZech 4:4, 5my lord.” 14 Then he said, “These are the two 1Lit sons of fresh oilAEx 29:7; 40:15; 1 Sam 16:1, 12, 13; Is 61:1-3; Dan 9:24-26anointed ones who are BZech 3:1-7standing by the CMic 4:13Lord of the whole earth.”
