1 Now I lifted up my eyes again and looked, and behold, ADan 7:3; 8:22; Zech 1:18; 6:5four chariots were coming forth from between the two mountains; and the mountains were bronze mountains. 2 With the first chariot were AZech 1:8; Rev 6:4red horses, with the second chariot BRev 6:5black horses, 3 with the third chariot ARev 6:2white horses, and with the fourth chariot strong BRev 6:8dappled horses. 4 Then I spoke and said to the angel who was speaking with me, “AZech 1:9What are these, my lord?” 5 The angel replied to me, “These are the AJer 49:36; Ezek 37:9; Dan 7:2; 11:4; Matt 24:31; Rev 7:1four spirits of heaven, going forth after standing before the Lord of all the earth, 6 with one of which the black horses are going forth to the AJer 1:14, 15; 4:6; 6:1; 25:9; 46:10; Ezek 1:4north country; and the white ones go forth after them, while the dappled ones go forth to the BIs 43:6; Dan 11:5south country. 7  “When the strong ones went out, they 1Lit sought to gowere eager to go to 2Lit walk about throughAZech 1:10patrol the earth.” And He said, “Go, 2Lit walk about throughpatrol the earth.” So they 3Lit walked about throughpatrolled the earth. 8 Then He cried out to me and spoke to me saying, “See, those who are going to the land of the north have 1Lit caused My spirit to rest inAEzek 5:13; 24:13; Zech 1:15appeased My wrath in the land of the north.”

9 The AZech 1:1; 7:1; 8:1word of the Loʀᴅ also came to me, saying, 10 “AEzra 7:14-16; 8:26-30; Jer 28:6Take an offering from the exiles, from Heldai, Tobijah and Jedaiah; and you go the same day and enter the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah, where they have arrived from Babylon.

11  “Take silver and gold, make an ornate A2 Sam 12:30; Ps 21:3; Song 3:11crown and set it on the head of BEzra 3:2; Hag 1:1; Zech 3:1Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest. 12  “Then say to him, ‘Thus says the Loʀᴅ of hosts, “Behold, a man whose name is 1Lit SproutAIs 4:2; 11:1; Jer 23:5; 33:15; Zech 3:8Branch, for He will 2Lit sprout upBIs 53:2branch out from where He is; and He will CEzra 3:8, 10; Amos 9:11; Zech 4:6-9build the temple of the Loʀᴅ. 13  “Yes, it is He who will build the temple of the Loʀᴅ, and He who will AIs 9:6; 11:10; 22:24; 49:5, 6bear the honor and sit and BIs 9:7rule on His throne. Thus, He will be a CPs 110:1, 4priest on His throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the two 1Lit of themoffices.” ’ 14  “Now the AZech 6:11crown will become a reminder in the temple of the Loʀᴅ to Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah and 1I.e. JosiahHen the son of Zephaniah. 15  “AIs 56:6-8; 60:10Those who are far off will come and 1Lit build inbuild the temple of the Loʀᴅ.” Then you will BZech 2:9-11; 4:9know that the Loʀᴅ of hosts has sent me to you. And it will take place if you completely CIs 58:10-14; Jer 7:23; Zech 3:7obey the Loʀᴅ your God.
