Internet Bible delivery counts for eBible.org and associated sites

For as the rain comes down and the snow from the sky,

The following numbers are ESTIMATES of downloads based on source server logs. They have been anonymized, and the locations have been blurred to protect the privacy of Bible readers (which is a security issue in some places). Please note that the log analysis done below has the following known limitations:

• Although we filter out and don't count some known search engine bot activity, our filters will miss some of these bots. That means that some activity is not real people reading the Bible, but on the other hand, search engines indexing our site make it easier for real people to find the Bible in our language on our site.
• These numbers do not count secondary distribution by third parties, such as that done in areas with poor Internet access using portable WiFi hotspots with local copies of Bibles.
• These numbers do not count the multiplication effect of the caching content delivery network services we use. The CDN service (through CloudFlare.com) increases the speed of eBible.org world-wide and makes it much more robust against denial of service (DOS) attacks, but it also makes it so that we can't see the IP addresses and locations of the end users. That means that our actual Bible distributions are going to be higher than what is listed below, and that meaningful destination mapping is no longer possible for most of our users in the same way we have done it, before. Higher reliability and more actual Bible deliveries make this loss in visibility well worth it, in our opinion.
• Various "oops" moments in log handling over the last year caused some log entries to be lost and not counted.

So why do we bother with these counts? Because the estimates are still accurate enough to be useful and encouraging.
