1 This is now, A1 Pet 2:11; 2 Pet 3:8, 14, 17beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am B2 Pet 1:13stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, 2 that you should AJude 17remember the words spoken beforehand by BLuke 1:70; Acts 3:21; Eph 3:5the holy prophets and CGal 6:2; 1 Tim 6:14; 2 Pet 2:21the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles.

3 A2 Pet 1:20Know this first of all, that B1 Tim 4:1; Heb 1:2in the last days CJude 18mockers will come with their mocking, D2 Pet 2:10following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, “AIs 5:19; Jer 17:15; Ezek 11:3; 12:22, 27; Mal 2:17; Matt 24:48Where is the promise of His B1 Thess 2:19; 2 Pet 3:12coming? For ever since the fathers CActs 7:60fell asleep, all continues just as it was DMark 10:6from the beginning of creation.” 5 For 1Or they are willfully ignorant of this fact, thatwhen they maintain this, it escapes their notice that AGen 1:6, 9; Heb 11:3by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was BPs 24:2; 136:6formed out of water and by water, 6 through which A2 Pet 2:5the world at that time was BGen 7:11, 12, 21fdestroyed, being flooded with water. 7 But by His word A2 Pet 3:10, 12the present heavens and earth are being reserved for BIs 66:15; Dan 7:9f; 2 Thess 1:7; Heb 12:29fire, kept for CMatt 10:15; 1 Cor 3:13; Jude 7the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, A2 Pet 3:1beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and BPs 90:4a thousand years like one day. 9 AHab 2:3; Rom 13:11; Heb 10:37The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but BRom 2:4; Rev 2:21is patient toward you, C1 Tim 2:4; Rev 2:21not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

11 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 A1 Cor 1:7looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which B2 Pet 3:7, 10the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the CIs 24:19; 34:4; Mic 1:4elements will melt with intense heat! 13 But according to His AIs 65:17; 66:22promise we are looking for BRom 8:21; Rev 21:1new heavens and a new earth, CIs 60:21; 65:25; Rev 21:27in which righteousness dwells.

14 A1 Cor 15:58; 2 Pet 1:10Therefore, B2 Pet 3:1beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be C1 Pet 1:7found by Him in peace, DPhil 2:15; 1 Thess 5:23; 1 Tim 6:14; James 1:27spotless and blameless, 15 and regard the A2 Pet 3:9patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also BActs 9:17; 15:25; 2 Pet 3:2our beloved brother Paul, C1 Cor 3:10; Eph 3:3according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, 16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of A2 Pet 3:14these things, BHeb 5:11in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and C2 Pet 2:14unstable distort, as they do also D2 Pet 3:2the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. 17 You therefore, A2 Pet 3:1beloved, knowing this beforehand, B1 Cor 10:12be on your guard so that you are not carried away by C2 Pet 2:18the error of D2 Pet 2:7unprincipled men and ERev 2:5fall from your own steadfastness, 18 but grow in the grace and A2 Pet 1:2knowledge of our B2 Pet 1:11; 2:20Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
