A Better Ministry
Now the main point in what has been said is this: we have such a ACol 3:1; Heb 2:17; 3:1high priest, who has taken His seat at BPs 110:1; Heb 1:3the right hand of the throne of the BPs 110:1; Heb 1:3Majesty in the heavens, a AHeb 10:11minister 1Or ofin the sanctuary and 1Or ofin the BHeb 9:11, 24true 2Or sacred tenttabernacle, which the Lord CEx 33:7pitched, not man. For every AHeb 2:17high priest is appointed BRom 4:25; 5:6, 8; Gal 2:20; Eph 5:2; Heb 5:1; 8:4to offer both gifts and sacrifices; so it is necessary that this high priest also have something to offer. Now if He were on earth, He would not be a priest at all, since there are those who AHeb 5:1; 7:27; 8:3; 9:9; 10:11offer the gifts according to the Law; who serve AHeb 9:23a copy and BCol 2:17; Heb 10:1shadow of the heavenly things, just as Moses 1Lit has beenwas CMatt 2:12; Heb 11:7; 12:25warned by God when he was about to erect the 2Or sacred tenttabernacle; for, “DEx 25:40Sᴇᴇ,” He says, “ᴛʜᴀᴛ ʏoᴜ ᴍᴀᴋᴇ all things ᴀccoʀᴅɪɴɢ ᴛo ᴛʜᴇ ᴘᴀᴛᴛᴇʀɴ wʜɪcʜ wᴀs sʜowɴ ʏoᴜ oɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍoᴜɴᴛᴀɪɴ.” But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is also the A1 Tim 2:5mediator of BLuke 22:20; Heb 7:22; 8:8; 9:15; 12:24a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises.
A New Covenant
For AHeb 7:11if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion sought for a second. For finding fault with them, He says,
