The Blessing of Moses
1 Now this is the blessing with which Moses AJosh 14:6the man of God blessed the sons of Israel before his death. 2 He said,
“AEx 19:18, 20; Ps 68:8, 17The Loʀᴅ came from Sinai,
BJudg 5:4And 1Lit rose todawned on them from Seir;
CNum 10:12; Hab 3:3He shone forth from Mount Paran,
And He came from DDan 7:10; Acts 7:53the 2Lit myriads of holinessmidst of ten thousand holy ones;
EEx 23:20-22At His right hand there was 3Or a fiery lawflashing lightning for them.
BDeut 7:6; 14:2All 2Lit HisYour holy ones are in Your hand,
CDeut 6:1-9; Luke 10:39And they 3Or lie down at Your feetfollowed in Your steps;
Everyone receives of Your words.

When the heads of the people were gathered,
The tribes of Israel together.

7 AGen 49:8-12And this regarding Judah; so he said,
“Hear, O Loʀᴅ, the voice of Judah,
And bring him to his people.

And may You be a help against his adversaries.”
8 Of Levi he said,

With whom You contended at the waters of Meribah;

‘I did not consider them’;
And he did not acknowledge his brothers,
Nor did he regard his own sons,

And kept Your covenant.

And Your law to Israel.

11 “O Loʀᴅ, bless his substance,
And accept the work of his hands;
Shatter the loins of those who rise up against him,
And those who hate him, so that they will not rise again.”
12 Of Benjamin he said,
“ADeut 4:37f; 12:10May the beloved of the Loʀᴅ dwell in security by Him,
BDeut 32:11Who shields him all the day,
CEx 28:12And he dwells between His shoulders.”
13 Of Joseph he said,
“AGen 27:27, 28; 49:22-26Blessed of the Loʀᴅ be his land,
With the choice things of heaven, with the dew,
And from the deep lying beneath,
14 And with the choice yield of the sun,
And with the choice produce of the months.
And with the choice things of the everlasting hills,
16 And with the choice things of the earth and its fullness,
And the favor AEx 2:2-6; 3:2, 4of Him who dwelt in the bush.
Let it come to the head of Joseph,
And to the crown of the head of the one distinguished among his brothers.
17 “As the firstborn of his ox, majesty is his,
And his horns are the horns of ANum 23:22the wild ox;

All 1Or togetherat once, to the ends of the earth.
And those are the ten thousands of Ephraim,
And those are the thousands of Manasseh.”
18 AGen 49:13-15Of Zebulun he said,
“Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going forth,
And, Issachar, in your tents.
There they will offer BPs 4:5; 51:19righteous sacrifices;
And the hidden treasures of the sand.”
20 AGen 49:19Of Gad he said,
“Blessed is the one who enlarges Gad;
He lies down BGen 49:9as a 1Or lionesslion,
And tears the arm, also the crown of the head.
BNum 34:14For there the ruler’s portion was 2Or covered upreserved;
CJosh 4:12And he came with the leaders of the people;
DJosh 22:1-3He executed the justice of the Loʀᴅ,
And His ordinances with Israel.”

“Dan is BEzek 19:2, 3a lion’s whelp,
That leaps forth from Bashan.”
23 Of Naphtali he said,
“AGen 49:21O Naphtali, satisfied with favor,
And full of the blessing of the Loʀᴅ,
Take possession of the sea and the south.”
24 AGen 49:20Of Asher he said,
“More blessed than sons is Asher;
May he be favored by his brothers,
BJob 29:6And may he dip his foot in oil.
